Please explain? I left tumblr briefly before yahoo acquired the site.

Yahoo had a security problem that leaked out millions of passwords and emails. Most or all Tumblr accounts were affected. Tumblr didn't the accounts to be hacked, they force logged-off all off their users, if a user tried to log back on they were greeted with the "change password" screen.

I used a throwaway email for mine and couldn't recover my account. Since Tumblr can't prove you're the owner of that account without the email it's lost forever.
I haven't used the site since then but I'd like to start over and get some ref and art blogs to follow.
