I want to transition into digital drawing from traditional. I heard there was a bit of a learning curve with a regular tablet, so I was looking at just buying a ugee screen tablet and eventually save up for a cintiq later on. Would this be better than learning how to use a reg tablet only to switch to a cintiq later on? They're both about the same price ranger anyway

an ugee can be your end game if it's big enough
If you're serious about this, get a cintiq.
I started with a Bamboo, but when I got a Cintiq my productivity and quality in digital increased 10fold. Drawing on a Cintiq is BETTER than drawing paper, as it's nigh identical + you have all the digital tools.

Eh, with regular tablets it's not too bad from my experience. I prefer regular tablets because my monitor is better than a cintiq's screen, plus it's cheaper.
Hardest part is line control, and the best tip I can give there is GET AN ANTI-FOULING GLOVE. Buy one, cut up a cotton glove or sock, but make sure you have something that will let your hand slide on the tablet. That alone turned my lines from parkinsons to decent. It's more important on larger tablets since you'll be doing larger movements.

I definitely want to be able to do lineart, so wouldn't a screen tablet be better anyway? The ugee models aren't too expensive from what I see
not OP but is ugee a passable alternative to cintiq?

Would it be better? Maybe, it's a personal preference thing.
It's definitely more expensive though, my Huion WH1409 was like $125 and it's huge.
You can definitely do lineart on regular tablets fairly easily, the learning curve is just a bit higher. You'd want to give it a few weeks.
Honestly, I find it a lot harder to draw on a screen than a tablet.
And that's coming from a traditional background. Just the way screens feel and function, its way easier to use a tablet.

Really, how long did it take to adjust, I remember trying an intuos out and it was very foreign and difficult to make the lines as opposed to on paper.
I also prefer intuos over on screen. Way bigger learning curve imo cause of slippery glass.
