So I've had some problems and wasn't able to draw for a year or so.
Now I have immense trouble getting back into the flow.
I was working like a well oiled machine before, for the first time in my life I fear the empty canvas now. I have no idea where to start and what I am even doing, because I operated on instinct most of the time.
I constructed, inked, colored for 10 years straight digitally and knew what I was doing by muscle memory.
Now I'm sitting in front of my new desk and I completely blank and when I start to ink something I fucking lose track of the flow and fuck it up.

What do? I need rehab.

Talk to a therapist not underage weabbos

I doubt a therapist knows about art other than therapeutic clown painting.
>>
I would try to ease back into it. Start small--draw only for maybe 30 minutes and keep it something simple and easy, whatever you are most comfortable with. Do this each day and gradually increase things until habits are formed and you are past any mental walls.

A therapist deals with the mental side of things, not the art side of things. An this is a mental issue.

They might give you some sweet drugs though ;^)

Will do.
I've run out of steam so often in the last few months, so I have tons of unfinished projects that took me 3 days max when I was in good shape.

The initial passion and spark of an early relationship can sometimes dampen over time. There are things you can do to get that spark back if things are diminishing. Work on yourself, spend time with your pencil, and revisit earlier times in your relationship.

set yourself on fire

I want my drugs back. I was almost doing well then I had to quit them and not even a month later I'm already back to planning suicide
>>
>>2954761
Why only plan? What's the point anyways?
>>
>>2954766
It's hard to explain but you can't help it. when you feel depressed your can't keep focus and your mind starts roaming, at some point you start thinking you should kill yourself.
It's not really planning, more like fantasizing. Either way I know it's never going to end. It's a thing like alcoholism, you never really quit being an alcoholic, but in this case the booze is in your head and there's no way to stop.

Do a few master studies that should get you back into the flow. make sure to choose shit you LOVE
>>
stop being afraid of failure and just draw. you're going to make bad art, its just apart of life
>>
>>2954699
You're trying to cling to your past artwork and skill, which is why you have so much anxiety about it now. This is the kind of baggage you're bringing to a new canvas. That's a lot of pressure isn't it?

So just forget about all that. Those 10 years have passed. All you can do now is paint for the present.
>>
Routine.

You gotta brute force it at first, but a good flow requires routine. If you need to build it back up gradually, build it back up gradually.

These.

No matter what, just draw.

Pick up a copy of "The War Of Art", by Steven Pressfield. It's written for exactly you. It helps me when I feel artist's block coming on. Any artist should read it.
