U need loomis or Hampton desu. Everything looks flat. Ears are too small. No brow ridge etc
>>2944502
>>2944517
And the top of this ear is in line with the eye and not the brow. Not that that is always a cast iron rule but, just eyeballing it and it looks small to me
>>2944521
>>2944545
Oh, it all makes sense now thanks the drawings perfect
>>2944551
Good consistent stylization. There are some issues with the structure of the trees at the center.

It looks good, you have got a really grounded quality to your skull shapes. What sort of prep work do you do?
My baby niece wanted a picture of a "bad wolf" with a snake.

Nice. Looks like Grendel.

Going through Loomis studies and trying to sketch and get a feel for bodies while getting used to my new tablet. 1/2
>>2945082
I REALLY like that color palette of the middle body. I'm envious of the way you use color in general; I hardly ever put color in my work lately.
>>2945221
I like the details on the buildings but the perspective feels off in some places, especially when I look at the one lacking details at the bottom left.
2/2
>>2945122
If you do I hope you'll come back to this and do it again with the same line weight and expression. I really like it for some reason.
>>2945138
Just go with some Faber Castell graphite or something and work from the lightest to the darkest. You'll have great control of your values working like that. Maybe a good mechanical for sharper details. Pentel and Staedtler are pretty fine.
>>2945091
Whoooo those values make me hard, anon. What was your reference?
>>2945299
Are the chicken scratch line intentional or where you trying to get the form across? Can't say I'm a fan of messy linework but I wouldn't say that's really bad.
i struggle with perspective and focus more on details than proper proportions. i still think im beginner tier.
>>2945683
did another one in pencil. took me about an hour to get most of it and 2 more to refine the small details. the one in pen only took about half an hour because it's minimalist. i was 18-19 around the time of both drawings.
you can see that i drew both from the side because drawing objects from other angles makes me uncomfortable, which is obviously a barrier i have to get over. i want to get into digital art and make webcomics but i know it'll take time and effort to really hone my skill. im still 19 with loads of time on my hands outside of school. architecture student btw.
will i make it, /ic/?
>>2945683
Work on constructing your forms and force yourself not to render. You're using rendering as a crutch in an attempt to force perspective and form and make a "nice drawing" when the underlying foundation of the drawing is pretty flawed.
I'd recommend working in pencil at first and working in this order:
>action line/gestural drawing
>lay out forms
>tweak proportions
>final line
>>2945690
thanks for the tips!
>>2945683
>>2945686
First of all I think it's great that you're rendering. A lot of beginners here dismiss it completely. I would suggest you go with what >>2945690
said but still practice rendering/ spend more time with some of your work. I think you could get a lot better quickly if you pay more attention to the proportions (using measurement methods) or the form (using constructional methods), ideally you will be able to utilize both.
>will i make it, /ic/?
I honestly believe anyone can make it if they don't quit and strive to improve.
>>2945075
why bash on a ringed binder? decent paper and i need to find some non ringed with the size/paper types i like.

Ha, no. I found a painting with the signature "Wei 07". Turned out to be Wei-Zi. And I actually hated L. It was the last one and I was out of 'good' ideas. She looks too Naruto with the fishnets.

So far we're going with H's belt and garters, F's asymmetrical sleeve and B's boots. E was a strong contender, so it's going to be recycled for a supporting character.

If you're going to do work like this it won't be taken seriously unless presentation is a 10/10. Get a scanner and learn how to correct your images. Watch and play with your cropping as well; you've got edge tangents in #3.

>>2950872

>>2949515
You are somewhat competently rendering over bad construction and shitty perspective. Focus on fundies. It will next level your finished works.
>>2952859
Build up a really big visual reference library.
I recommend browsing /k/, they usually have threads with tons of HD images, and photos of rarer aircraft and ground combat vehicles.
Pinterest would be good, and I recommend physical books as well, I sometimes go down to a local bookstore or Salvation Army for that kinda thing.
>>2952795
Thanks for the scanning tip. How do you go about scanning large canvas pieces? Also do you have to be entertaining on social media or dicksuck art gallery crowds to make decent pay from this type of work? I've sold very little pieces and think it is due to my rare contact with people
>>2954512
you take a photo, in fact you should take a photo of any artwork. scanning messes with pictures in a way that's harder to correct in photoshop then photography.

You've got some neat work. The cars are quite nice, and I like the viking guy and some of the robots. I feel your people in general though are kind of weak still and it feels like you are hiding behind stylized/caricatured faces and "funny" body proportions because you can't actually draw them properly in a normal way.
>>2954934
You got me there. Promortioned people or anything real proportioned usually takes me a lot more time and I end up getting bored and hating it.
I should work on that I guess, but my lack on landscapes and background is much bigger and I think more important now
>>2954903
Thank you!
i hope this thread is alive
>>2954512
like the other anon said, for large canvas the most practical way is to take a picture of it with a good camera. You could also scan the piece in sections and combine the chunks using photoshop.

Critiques welcome, hope someone likes these and sorry if the photo is blurry. I started practicing portraiture a few months ago and am making a renewed push at improvement. Mouths in bottom middle are from today looking in mirror, the people are randoms sitting in my local bars so all models from life. I'm working on my confidence with my marks so no eraser for all of these.
>>2977176
You are well on your way, but I think you should introduce some head construction knowledge to really nail those proportions and at the same time learn the parameters in which different facial features can fit. Loomis, Proko, Reilly... there is a lot; start somewhere and try out different teachers. But don't stop visiting you local places!

Very impressive. Try to procure a Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph. The Rotring might be easier to clean, but the former simply possesses an unparalleled traction in action. It feels like drawing by magnet with a very helpful glide. Don't be deterred from doing a light environmental outline in pencil however.
