Not really. Mindless drawing still gives you mileage and you might develop better hand-eye coordination and line confidence through sheer repetition and muscle memory. Not drawing at all doesn't do anything.

Fuck, you know you won't get a straight answer for this. There's too many factors: How well you study, how long per day, whether or not you're quick to learn, whether or not you can make the things you learned stick, etc.

It can take you anywhere between 1 year and 100 years.

The general consensus is that, starting completely from scratch, if you draw 6-8hrs(or more) per day you can git gud in about 2-4 years.

It shouldn't take more than 3 years to get good. If you've been drawing longer than that then you'll only be making incremental improvements your whole life of mediocrity. It's quite sad seeing all these untalented artists struggle for years before they finally realize that they aren't cut for it. Do yourself a favor, if you aren't making fast progress then you'll always suck. Quit while you're ahead.
