What you guys think about samurai jack artstyle?
Good shit
Didn't think much of it at first as a kid but as soon as I got gud in art I immediately appreciated how top tier the backgrounds and designs were
>>2931602
I really like them. The western approach to background art is really interesting to me, they focus a lot more on shapes, silhouettes, color theory and strong designs where as you see more realistic/grounded stuff in most anime. Samurai Jack pulls it off real well and all of their backgrounds are beautiful.
>>2931602
*Eyvind Earle artstyle
And yes it's great
As the post above shows, after stuff by maurice noble samurai jack bg is quite mediacore. they are decent stills but dont really add much to animation.
>>2931602
I honestly adore it. It looks like it was animated by illustrators instead of animators.
>>2931715
>animated by illustrators instead of animators
that diss.
>>2931602
Cancer.
>>2931710
*maurice noble/warner bro's
or actually, lets just call it backgrounds artists inspired by graphic painting/graphic design/ Traditional asian paintings.
what can i say, im a huge fan
>>2931854
I swear that was completely accidental
>>2932403
No it's fine *sobs*
Anyway It's very pleasing for the eye with the strong shapes and color
i love it so much. just beautiful. in a world of cutesy round bean faced cartoons, the jack revival is a breath of fresh air. its honestly inspiring to me. I cant wait for invader zim. while not as pretty as jack's, its another art style i've missed
>>2931602
I think it's great. When I saw the season premiere, I was really impressed. I had forgotten how much I like Samurai Jack's art.
>>2931856
Only cancer here is your shitty post.
>>2931602
I was going to say "I feel like this kind of art style can be appreciated more in animation than a painting" but then I thought about some paintings I like and figured that's just not true. Basically it's just really good.
hell yea. samurai jacks art, backgrounds, character designs, animation. everything in it is great. ive actually been taking screencaps of the new season for studies of how to break things down into simpler shapes when it comes to cartooning/style. its been really fun, and hey, on top of helping me study, i know the character designs well now so i can do fanart of samurai jack's characters whenever without reference. :)
>>2931602
It's okay. I prefer Rick and Morty's art style more tbqh
>>2933009
not sure if youre memeing on us with the whole aprils fools thing. shit dude dont even care, sj's episode is tonight. honestly they look like floppy noodles, like some copy-paste stuff applied intro a lot of shows as it is i feel SJ's style is much more unique to all other cartoons, genndy is just great
>>2933009
>I prefer Rick and Morty's art style more tbqh
god i really fucking hate Rick and Morty.
this is the ugliest piece of shit that can possibly be imagined.
Its like Superjail and Griffins had anal sex and vomited this Rick and Morty "art style".
fuck this
I prefer 80s and 90s anime backgrounds and art styles desu
>>2934414
same here my nigga
>>2934463
>tfw lupin will never be as good as this anymore
Fuck digital animation.
Scott Wills is the artist's name. One of my favorites.
Inspired by 50's Disney background painters, I presume?
>>2934414
It's sad to see what's happened to anime. The designs and overall look of a lot of oldschool anime had a certain kind of gritty appeal that you almost never see nowadays. Modern anime looks like plastic and uses way too much CGI and too many filters.
>>2936900
The problem is the OVA market died.
>>2936900
Occasionally you still get some good shit. Though it doesn't have that gritty quality.
RIP OVAs though
You are all saying it's good shit, but the new season art is 900% better than the shit tier the old one was. It was fucking bad.
The new one is well done, but you need to say which one you are referring to.
>>2936878
More like UPA and Maurice Nobel. Disney had to imitate the style in order to compete in the 50s.
>>2936980
that too... But the REAL problem is traditional animation died.
I can't remember a single movie this decade that was fully traditionally animated (I'm sure there's one).
There's just an "something" to traditional animation that gives it so much magic.
I guess a similar comparison is practical effects to CGI.
>>2937312
Eh, anime is still largely traditionally animated. But yeah, worldwide trad is kind of dead.
>>2937312
i think ponyo was the last fully traditionally animated feature film, and i think mononoke hime was the last one before that. is very uncommon, computers are very useful.
>>2937381
is it? which ones? maybe "traditionally animated" by computer.
but by hand on cells? which ones are still truly traditionally animated?
>>2937403
both.
keyframes and inbetweens are usually made on paper. coloring is done on computers
>>2937391
That would be Redline I think.
>>2934414
>>2936900
Sorry but old anime can go fuck itself, and I say this as someone who grew up with 80s-90s anime. Shh. No tears, only moe now.
>>2937416
Those things don't even look remotely human.
>>2937416
KyoAni lewding the dragon loli eh?
>>2937407
is that so, on cels and everything?
>>2937416
i've seen this around a lot as a like 'lol isn't anime gross' type of thing, but when i saw it in the show i just thought of it as like a little girl crushing on another little girl like they do irl, if it's like fanservice for pedos i totally missed it, weird eh
>>2937551
LIKE THEY DO IRL? ARE YOU FUCKING OUT OF YOUR MIND?
>>2933009
le lazy modern day noodle arm cartoon.jegp
>>2937570
little girls often have little crushes on other little girls, it's pretty common. they also sometimes have crushes on their own fathers. little girls just like to like like people lol.
>>2937570
>>2937584
I can back this up
for some kind of reason, I am a loli magnet at family reunions
but believe me, it's more fun to watch the situation unfold, than to be part of it. You are put in the situation where you have to be their babysitter at parties, while the others laugh at you (not in a bully kind of way, but how you would laugh at a comic situation in an anime)
and the fact that they keep teasing you 1 month after the event it's not fun (for me atleast)
>>2937609
You know what to do.
>>2937584
No very uncommon, when I was a child I had never had a crush on other girls. Nor had they had crushes on other girls. I was very popular in elementary school and all I ever remember girls crushing on where boys that looked like Justin bieber.
>>2937649
moe anime inspired by my life experience?
>>2937670
well your anecdotal evidence from when you were 5 has convinced me, especially as you were presumably omniscient as you seem to have known the hearts and minds of all your little school chums :)
>>2937570
Bosom buddies are common staple of classic women's literature for a reason. Yuri is also often set in high-school/middle-school because non-sexual, romantic relationships between girls at that age is seen as training wheels for the 'real world'.
>tfw actual lesbians in anime are hard to find
>>2937494
Cause one of them is a dragon moron.
