Yes but they do take some time to get use to.

It's alright. Frankly, it works. If you're trying to get into serious painting I'd say get something else. This is specifically for drawing. I've done line work with this before, it just takes getting used too.

I got my 13hd for like 500 by hijacking an auction at the last minute

keep your eyes peeled

you can also get financing options on the main wacom website if your credit isn't shit tier. apply and you might be able to get the newest models (cintiq pro 16/13) for under $200 a month
>>
whats the latency on these things? is it just as good as a mouse or can you sense it?
>>
>>2930893
There's pretty much no latency at all from my experience. The only real issue is the disconnect you have since you're drawing on the tablet but have to look at the screen. You get used to it after a while tho.
>>
>>2930893
>>2930903

If you have a display tablet that you can draw directly on, the learning curve is slightly less steep but still kind of there. The newer cintiqs that just came out have supposedly gotten rid of the parallax issue, but you'll still very clearly feel that it isn't the same as a sharp pencil against the tooth of your favorite paper.

After a few days of acclimation the disconnect practically disappears, but I'd still suggest practicing traditional so that you don't wind up depending on the tablet as a crutch

im actually used to drawing with my mouse, so the transition shouldnt be too hard i guess?
yea, i always have pen and paper next to the computer. to me, drawing irl is as different to drawing on a computer as it is to paint

Gonna take this thread for another tablet related question:

Do you use Antifouling gloves? I used an old glove and cut some fingers off, but the thing is really starting to fall apart now...

Is it worth the 10$-20$ to buy an actual antifoul glove or is it not better than a normal cotton one?

@ Thread topic
I love my cintiq 13 HD - BUT I only do my working/learning things analogue - it just sticks with you, you NEED to think about what you are about to do and it trains your hand to stay calm, generally analogue drawing sticks better and faster.

Digital is for my actual "work" pieces... because it's handier and less stressful to draw digitally...

I don't see why a beginner shouldn't use a tablet, as long as you keep on drawing with pen and paper on the side.
>>
>>2931246
can't you buy those gloves on ebay for like 3 bucks?

>>
>>2927615

I bought an xp-pen 15.6inch digital drawing tablet. Cost me 490. On Amazon.

Antifoul glove *I like it.*
All good, 16.7m colors pretty accurate / close to my main 27inch monitor which is calibrated.
Only white levels are slightly less white.

I never bought a tablet before. Always drew with paper and pencil.

But i considered how much cash I was flushing down the toilet by rebuying paper/pencils/pens. So I got that.

Better than wacom, as the few artist friends who own a cintiq or 13inch etc. All have tried it, as they never heard of anything but wacom. They all think I got something pretty great for hardly nothing.

But they all own wacoms, so I doubt they will be interested in this brand regardless. But as a beginner/intermediate myself. I think it was worth the 500 bucks.

When is it worth upgrading your tablet?
I worked with my Wacom Intuos Pen Small for the last 4 years. Recently I switched from drawing to painting. My Intuos also has this weird thing sometimes where it just skips a really small area and it looks like I got a muscle spasm or something.
Is it time for me to get a bigger tablet? I never worked with other tablets so I can't really compare mine to bigger ones.
Also: what is the bigger meme, wacom or huion?
>>
>>2932411
I'm this guy. Just bought a Huion New 1060 Plus for 80 bucks.
The Wacom products have worse specs and cost double the price. I hope the difference in quality won't drag the Huion down too much.

I had a small wacom intuos pen and I thought I was just shit at digital (couldn't make smooth lines, I have a mental condition that affects fine motor control, but was fine at traditional art) until I upgraded to a way larger tablet. Lines instantly got 100x better.

Ok, so I have a budget between 100 - 120 dollars and I have several questions, so first is what are the main differences between the Intuos Draw, Art and Comic aside from the software that comes with them and which would be the best option considering that for example the Intuos Comic comes with Clip Studio Paint which is very tempting to me but Is 20 dollars more expensive than the Intuos Draw.
If there are other better options that do not exceed for much the budget would be willing to consider it and would appreciate if you have videos of reviews and comparisons.
Sorry if I made some mistakes trough the post but english is not my first language.
>>
>didnt read the sticky
>>
>>2938407
Intuos draw doesn't have touch functions
>>
>>2938407
Try buying a bamboo fun, it's cheaper and pretty much has the same work output. I'd also suggest not even bothering buying clip studio art . There are easily piratable programs (like paint tool Sai, which is quite similar to the program you mentioned).

for the small wacom tablets, once you account for the interface and leaving enough of the drawing visible that you know where you're at you're left with a usable area the size of half a postcard. it's just far too small.

I don't use antifouling gloves but I stick my hands into my bathrobe when I'm wearing it. Makes my lines real smooth,
>>
>>2938419
And if you're wondering whether those touch functions are worth it, they aren't. I don't think I ever made use of touch when I had a tablet that supported it. I didn't even use the eraser side of the pen, it's faster to just bind a button to toggle your eraser.
>>
>>2927615
If you suck at drawing, you suck at drawing. A tablet wont help, it doesnt matter what you use.
>>
So all I have is a rather bad notebook with not a whole lot of space on it, would a drawing tablet be a good acquisition in that case or not?

I have absolutely no clue about these things.

Hey /ic/

Someone with almost no drawing experience here with a couple questions.

I want to get into drawing again, and have been thinking about getting a Wacom or Huion tablet to work with. I figure I haven't done much of anything in years, it wouldn't hurt to start from the ground up with digital because that would be the same thing I'd be doing if it was pencil and paper.

I have about a $150 budget I can go on here, so what device do you recommend? Or should I start with pencil and paper again and use that until I am proficient enough to warrant getting a tablet?

Just want your opinions, thats all.
>>
>>2946227

I'm an art student, I'm about to start illustrating. Never draw in digital.
I plan to buy a Wacom PRO 2017, but in my country it costs $ 518 (I live to the south, so far to the south that it snows among the pines of the mountains, and the green grass in the prairies extends in the horizon.)
A country beautiful but so far away that everything costs too much.
What should I do? Buy the Wacom Draw, to start and learn. Or buy PRO and assume that I try to live from art and education?
>>
>>2947829
Buying wacom is a meme.

Get a Huion H610 or WH1409 if you can swing it. the Giano (WH1409) is 95% as good as the intuos large for like 1/4th the price.

>>
>>2948149
The Huion Giano and H610 get shilled here all the time anon, I wouldn't call it unknown.

The only real disadvantages compared to wacom is no tilt, no touch, and the pen

In reality the only thing that actually matters is the battery pen and you can just charge it while you sleep once a week or something. It's also slightly less comfortable than the wacom pen but not $300 more comfortable.
>>
In fact Brazil is as far north as canada near the north pole (in view of the people of the South American continent)
Through the country passes the tropic of capricorn. Its territory is mountainous, it has neither prairies, nor mountains snowed with pines.

It is stupid, but the only thing that these countries have in common is the henormes taxes. Professional people have higher salaries in dollars, but their expenses are very high. Fuck logic.

Dell will be also be showcasing the Dell Canvas, an all-new smart workspace with touch, totem and pen capabilities that expands creative productivity for content developers and designers. Since its introduction earlier this year, leading partners and customers have been testing and delivering new application support for Canvas. Most recently, Adobe has developed totem functionality for intuitive timeline scrubbing in Premiere Pro for a Canvas environment. Dell is now expanding this early evaluation program to work with more partners and customers in preparation for global availability this summer.

Dell Canvas will be available in early July on Dell.com in the U.S. for $1799.

On average, Huions suffer from driver issues much more frequently than Wacoms; Wacoms are an industry standard for a reason. Money says you've never even used a Wacom. Even if you have,

I have a question but can't look at the sticky.

Is the wacom intuos draw ok for coloring my line art? That one and the intuos art are the cheaper tablets in my country. And honestly it's the only thing that I can afford.
>>
the intuos comic keeps going on sale for like 1% more each day and i dont know how long i should keep pushing that before i cave and buy it
>>
As I've been looking for a display tablet becasue my Intuos5 Small is giving me tendonitis on my forearm, I came across 2 alternatives to the Cintiq 13HD, one is the Huion GT-220 v2 and the other alternative is XP-Pen Artist 22HD/22E. Of course both non-Wacom have pens with battery, no touch and no tilt, but are bigger.
I feel touch may be useful for panning and rotating the screen while working but I don't find tilt useful as I so far had never used (And the only software I know that uses it properly is Corel Painter and I don't use it).

All three have their own set of problems so, anyone has experience with any?
>>
>>2954038
Yes definitely.
>>
>>2954310
Touch features are completely unnecessary, if you're going for 13HD just get the regular version. You can set zoom and rotate to a key.

Don't want to sound like a shill but I can't see myself using rechargeable pens becasue I use my tablet hours nearly everyday. Never had much problems with Wacom (barring the stupid driver issue that pops up once in a while then fixed forever), the chinese tablet I owned a while ago died within a a year, however.

I just can't trust those cheap models at this point, even if they're cheap as fuck. Would only get them if I had no other choice (which is what I did for my first two tablets, got the chpeast and smallest models. Not something I'd recommend if it isn't your first tablet).
>>
>>2957230
Not sure about how long the monitor pens' battery life lasts, but I've got a Huion graphics tablet whose pen will last weeks to a whole month on a few hours charge.

Also not that anon, but man, I'm really itching to get a Cintiq but the 13hd feels like it will be too small and I'm considering a portable version, so now the price is just overwhelming.
>>
>>2944149
Which model retard.
>>
>>2957244
>worries about size but wants a portable version
Which one is it? There's no huge portable version, that doesn't work

And as for the size, what do you ususally draw on? What size of paper? 13HD surface is as big as A4, take a sheet and draw on it. You might want to go 22HD if that's too small for you.

People really need to get the idea of a "beginner tablet" out of their head to begin with. Is a pair of pruning shears a good "beginner" tool for an aspiring lumberjack? Hell no.

The same is true for a tablet with a drawing surface the size of a couple sticky notes slapped together. Sure, they can be used for photo editing and painting, and even line work when you have your canvas at a significant magnification, but they are not even close to ideal or even remotely good for drawing free hand at all.

Get the Huion Giano or the Intuos Large, there is no reason for any of the other tablets to even exist at this point-at least if they don't have a screen (and if you have a tablet with a screen you played yourself, anyway). If you value your time even a little than there's absolutely no reason to be counting pennies on a tool you'll ideally be using for hours a day for years, if not decades, particularly if you expect to be paid for your work. Re-selling something has never been easier and most drawing tablets hold a great portion of their value for a long, long time

>Abluh bluh bluh Is this $25 tablet from a brand and country no one's ever heard of good for an aspiring pro artist?

If you're serious about Art, just SAVE up money and get a decent one like an Intuos 4, Cintiq, w/e. You're going to be using it for hours a day and a good tablet will last you years, so don't be a dumbass and cheap out on the main tool of your trade. If you don't have enough, save and work traditionally in the meantime.

You don't even draw, don't act like you have a place in this discussion. Piss off back to /b/ you freakin' moulinyan!

So I recently bought my first tablet after a year of drawing traditionally. My question is: how do I make a transition less painful? For now i can't even draw a circle on tablet. I understand that it won't take a day or two, but i want to fully switch to tablet as fast as possible. Should I force myself to draw only on tablet or take some "breaks" and draw traditionally from time to time?

Only if you get a medium. Just as good as an intuos 3 or 4, not as sturdy as the 3 and not as many buttons as the 4 but its not going to wear down like fuck like the 4. I have it and the pen is light and that is my only complaint. Good tablet.

>You might want to go 22HD if that's too small for you.
Except for the fact that 22HD has a price tag of $1600, double the price of a 13HD. a chinese GT220v2 or a nip 22E.
