I feel like a massive loser because... while I have written articles, tutorials, and been featured multiple times... I never got to do a cover when so so so many of my friends have. Worse, they list me as one of their influences, which just seems like some kind of poetic irony.

If you already have contacted those people multiple times, why not ask them if you can do cover art for them? I mean, shit, what's the problem?

I got a subscription for Christmas this year, I enjoy reading through it. I particularly enjoyed the Animation art issue a few months back. I find the specific art advice tutorials and features they do, such as rendering trees or misty forests helpful.

It's expensive and I feel isn't worth a subscription. Pick up one or two issues that have content you like and that's all you need. A lot of it will be repeating itself or simply not good information.

Man it feels weird looking through ImagineFX because ImagineFX to me was like my goal of making it, "one day Ill be good enough to have my work there, one day I'll be good enough to post on Conceptart"

Fast forward now and my dreams shifted to a completely different direction, I now have the crazy goal of making comics, I already got £10000 via kickstarter and am grinding hard for the next volume, and while I may no longer have an interest in being a concept artist I cant forget that this magazine and my previous goal is what help me improve in skills and work ethics

i got in a couple years back, by the time they published my shit i had already gotten steady work and was done with illustration.

Just sent cold emails to their public address with your work attached and a short message. They will write you back with requirements and let you know what issue you will be in.
