I try to draw in a daily basis, but the problem is, most of the time, I don't know what to draw, or if I know what to draw, I only draw until I get to the neck, because I don't know what pose I could use either
Any advice, /ic/ ?
>>
try to find a picture of someone in weird pose (bcuz it's interesting and learn quite a lot of things) and try copy it
>>
Draw from ancient statuary on Pinterest, especially greek new comedy figurines.

If I am uninspired I just draw stuff I need to study, like gestures, or some animal studies from documentaries, whatever I know I suck ass at.
>>

Literally draw anything. If you cant decide what to do then just run down the list. Cant decide = do everything. You'll hate it until you find the thing you love.

Draw from reference. Find a pose you like and try drawing that. Then you fail, realize why you failed and then try to not do the thing that caused you to fail.
>>

This sounds like fun, I'm gonna do this.
>>
make lots of copies of art you like and make a list of subject matter you like

GESTURE DRAWING

write down your ideas whenever you get them. I get a lot of ideas when doing some boring shit. Most of my painting came from me sitting in a bus.
>>

This.

I have so many ideas written down that I need to draw/paint. My issue is getting started on all of them. The worst is I often get started then only end up doing a sketch not a finished painting.
>>
Just study, drawing from the imagination is fun and you may learn a bit from it, but honsetly just study from life or refernce, you'll have an idea of what to draw, the outcome will look better, and you'll be learning in the process.

Are you a genius?

You have bad habits. Every drawing from imagination starts with thinking. If you don't do this your drawing will be bad. Kim Jung Gi needs to think about the drawing in his head because he doesn't use guidelines, but it is always something he has done otherwise he wouldn't be able to lose the guidelines.

If you set out the intention to draw a full figure character, you need to draw the full figure first before setting in stone the head. The head is only 1/8 of the figure. Focus on the figure, finish the head and expression near to last.

If you set out no real intention to draw a full-figure, it's your own fault for failing to do so. Set out a goal or intention for every drawing before you start and stick with it. Play a game with yourself. Give yourself an imaginary 'point' when you stick with your intentions and don't get scared out of it.

Ideas, however, aren't so important. What matters is your execution of the idea. You can spend days remixing upon remixing the most basic and unoriginal concepts. The execution of the drawing is what you are most creative with. How can i express this emotion, this type of character, etc.

If you're really a beginner, scribble lines and shapes on your paper. Look into the abyss of squiggles and draw on top of the squiggles what you see.
