II quite like the drawing with the car.
The figures and the lion are awkward, a lack of gesture training is showing.

Actually look at his 'basic perspective' before you'll try to defend him, dickface.
He thinks that to draw 5 boxes in 1 point perspective, you need 5 vanishing points.

Drawabox is objectively cancer.

>>2916556

>>
>>2916556
He's explained before in his critiques that those side boxes are meant to serve as a visual reference for how far things are supposed to rotate, rather than exist in space.

He tends to do a lot of shit like this - purposely simplifying things or ignoring certain mistakes in order to communicate specific ideas in a way that is easier to understand. Worrying about the perspective on those other boxes ends up distracting people from the main purpose of the exercise.

Sure does leave things open to be torn apart when taken out of context, though.

>>
>>2915555

Is it really shit, or can something be learned or taken from it, is it a good source?

Also, do I need to master every exercise/homework before moving onto the next, I am at the ellipses and drawing from the shoulder pivot, I am making very slow progress on the ellipses getting better. But progress none the less, is it worth going through the entire thing.

I am also working on Right Side as well.
>>
>>2922779
the exercises are taken from various master courses they are legit
>>
>>2922779
Draw a box: I liked the first chapters - the basic linework stuff. It's unoffensive and good as a warm up thing. I still draw ~20 minutes of these just to get into the mood. But the anatomy was way too stylized and I rather used Hampton from there.

Drawing with the right side of the brain is good for a read through once or twice - it really talks about the issues with symbol drawing. But the exercises are a bit meh here and there.

>>2922804
I hate to say this but if you feel comfortable about it post your work and we might be able to answer that question.
>>
>>2922809

You mean exercises from the Draw-A-Box or just my own personal works.

I have been going to a figure drawing session on and off too, and I have a good chunk of digital work too, though I personally think it's shit, what would you want me to post, I am willing to get some criticism on where I can improve. (which frankly I think I need improvement all around)
>>
>>2915555
something that /ic/ doesn't really get is that you don't have to be a master artist in order to teach.
If you know the exercises and can provide the proper material it doesn't matter. Giving feedback and doing paintovers is a bit different, but as far as just teaching and providing lessons the skill of the teacher doesn't matter as long as they know what they're talking about.

draw a box provides free lessons, the lessons themselves and exercises he provides are completely valid and useful regardless of his own ability.

stop shitting all over the people who try to help you.

Top of my head Hampton and Vlippu - you need to get a better idea of anatomy and the gestures and any motion is missing. Also try to find material on forms and how to translate complex things like human bodies into simpler forms. You're on a good way, no symbol drawing. That's good.

I have no idea what and how to look for that? You mean Loomis?

Also, here is something from my sketchbook, I will post my most recent after this post, I just need to compile it.
>>
>>2922786
It's basically what he learned from dynamic sketching 1/ analytical figure drawing/ and one or two other classes from art center. It gets the fundies to you in a way that seems less fine artsy. Plus you get real critique from the community or from him yourself if you pay 3 bucks a month.

Everyone thinks hes a meme but he has some good stuff to offer. Just do up to dynamic sketching and then do some CGMA master classes to get you on the route afterwords. His analytical figure drawing is meh. It's better to take that shit online. But I have to admit he's a nice person and a very helpful at pointing out what you need to do to succeed. Dunno why this place hates that.

I prefer this desu because he has structure and points you in a direction and has a list of stuff he wants you to do. Don't get me wrong I respect the st/ic/y. But this just suits me better.

My two cents.
>>
>>2922846
Your lines are a bit scribbly. Draw with intent, but don't be afraid to erase. You have to erase with intent as well.

>>2922848
Simplify the hues. It helps to have a base color laid down before getting to the details.

You might just want to work on getting your value studies decent before moving on the color.

>>2922857
Find a system for getting proportions right.
At your level, you should be working on construction.
From reference, deconstruct the form into basic shapes once you have blocked it in. And from imagination, construct the figure with basic shapes.

Draw larger too. Your accuracy is not great for small doodles.

Getting back to the original question, you should do drawabox exercises.
>>
>>2922900

Thanks, so basically just go with Loomis and construct and deconstruct figures with basic shapes, both digitally and traditionally?
>>
>>2922929
Yeah, pretty much.
If Loomis really isn't working with you, you can try Hampton. His process is a bit more intuitive (at least for me).

I wrote this before, but learn basic proportions first. You can get away with bs-ing the finer anatomical details, but normies are very sensitive to proportion.

Should I just basically get everything on this list (pic related) and do it all? I am kind of floundering on where to even start since it's rather overwhelming, but I suppose Loomis, Right Side and Draw-A-Box are good beginning points.

So if I've done Lesson 1 and 2, I shouldn't go further with Draw A Box? I was about to start Lesson 3 but it seems much less sophisticated.

What do you recommend if I were to stop with Draw A Box, having completed Lesson 1 and 2? Besides CGMA Master Classes I mean, even though it looks really interesting with all those digital lessons.
>>
It's mediocre. I think he does a terrible job of explaining form intersections, and his art is far from fantastic, but from my beginner's perspective there's not too much going wrong.

Is there a Mega link to the CGMA Master Classes by the way? Haven't found anything in sticky.
>>
>>2925016
You could just do Dynamic Bible, which is just his class in book form
>>
I did both CGMA courses. Its about the same.

You guys should just read How to draw book. A solid year of reading how to draw book is all you need.

Scott Eaton has some good courses aswell. Plus there anatomy for sculptors and just reading the classics I.e. Artistic anatomy. Plus also looking at Krenz stuff.

Drawabox is good start to begin.
>>
>>2925279
I think krenz method of drawing might be the most technical, but versatile since basically you're drawing almost everything like it was a product sketch.
