Nice idea to try changing the light source. It is a good exercise.

If you are having trouble here's a simple way to approach it. Step 2 is the one that has a lot of leeway in how you handle it. It's up to you how much you want to extend the value range and whether you expose for the lights or shadow and so one. Actually I didn't do a great job on it here but it's just a quick thing to show you the general idea.

I think it's just having better control of things. Like the purples and yellows feel a bit heavy handed, so make them more subtle and make them more controlled on why a certain colour is in a certain place.

Or the textures are everywhere, maybe reduce them overall since the statue is super smooth and the image doesn't have much texture to it.

Also where you choose to put detail and precision. The face needs a lot of work, and the hands are really important and in hte light, so get the shapes and edge s and values really accurate there.

Another thing are you values overall. I think changing the background to a light value means you need to add more light to the scene overall, so be careful of where you go dark and how dark you go.

Feels too saturated and red. The hair also doesn't look like hair at all, but that's largely due to the face that it is made of marble in the original so you will need to paint over it more.

The podium she is on would pick up some warmth from her skin, and probably wouldn't be that cold blue gray colour to begin with.

Thanks. Texture is a good point. I cranked up the size and smoothed out everythin a bit already.

The hue and value shifts were to harsh, I agree.
I played a bit with the background, corrected loads of vibrance and exposure to fight the muddy colors and have it look more like a high-key lighted scene.

I'll give it a proper focal point by the hands now, detailing what is needed, correcting edges overall and we'll see how it goes.

Any input is always valued.

The face still looks off. Are you flipping your image? Maybe also try doing some construction on it and double checking vertical and horizontals. The unusual lighting on it is making it difficult, but you are still misplacing the features and proportions. If you do a really good job on the face it will make the piece like 5 times better. It's really important to get right.
