Does any one know if these things are any good? I've got a traditional wood manikin that I find helpful but the joints don't work very well, if I got a body-kun for 20$ off allie express would it be worth it? They seem good but possibly to small, any suggestions for other relativity cheap solutions besides reference type websites/programs?
They're good
You can get the figma next archetypes too, same shit really.

I own two body-chans (one dx set), and so far I am happy with them.
There are some problems though, as the shoulder can be a hassle to deal with if they get stuck or lock into a position. One of the legs of mine also scraped on the edge connected to the pelvis.
My advice is to take photos of them and use them for reference if you find them to be too small, and the sheet inside of each box feature this digital art step-by- step guide.
There should be sets of those SHF photo series online, so google that.
You can do what >>2900272 said too.

figma have realistic levels of articulation so the archetypes and possibly some of the desktop museum figures would be good for referencing poses. Only downside about using mannikins/figures for reference is that they have, well, doll joints. Which means you won't really be getting how actual muscles etc would work in a pose, even if the poses are still anatomically viable.

this is a toy made for artists that cant get women to pose for them...

Also apparently not knowing that life drawing classes are a thing you can go to.

>Excuses me ma'am, can you just levitate in midair for 15 minutes so I can get a quick figure sketch for this panel?
>No, no, not like that, here, let me just readjust your limbs so I can get it exactly how I want
Haha yeah bro these fucking virgins are just too afraid to draw naked women in person, which is totally the same as having a tool you can put in any pose instantaneously to get a reference for an illustration drawn from imagination.
>>2902994
exactly.
>>2902993
Does it matter at all?
>>2903029
yes, it does.

> Can't find guts or model to ask without being called a sexist
> tfw no gf
> Porn almost 80% of the time features shitty shots
> Weird stares of bypassers when sketching in public
> Craigslist ads will guarantee a poisoned snatch or ass drilling after a 10-20 min study
I prefer the doll and 2D
>>2903833
your drawing skill should be enough to have girls ask you to draw them and who will be willing to pose for an artist (like me, but I am not going to upload none of my work to prove my point) but all these responses only tell me you all suck ad drawing and if you use digital mediums, stick with your dolls.
all you fucking degenerate virgins going off topic, shut the fuck up. answer the goddamn question or go fuck off like the neckbeard virgins you are.
now to op, yeah the body kun is great. its super expensive but the fact that you can use it to recreate poses you have in your head is great. if you decide to buy one get the dx set. the amount of hands and included weapons make it possible for you to recreate almost any pose that pops into your head. If you want a more realistic body type then go for the figma archetype.

As someone who has actually drawn naked models I just need to state that I'd pick a $10 action figure over some shitty amateur any day of the week.
If you want someone to pose for you you'll want someone with experience, which means that you'll have to pay for it, because standing perfectly still for an extended amount of time is way fucking harder than it looks. Especially if you want the pose to be even remotely interesting.
Pain is when you notice that the model's arm has lowered 10cm during the last 5 minutes and their entire posture suddenly looks like a potato. Don't cheap out on models.
>>2903861
> Digital
I prefer and do traditional.
>>2903867
See second reply. I am very pleased with my DX set, and heavily recommend that. Comes with more hands than a single.
>>2900248
Who polynian here?
>>2900248
nobody has answered his question
is the chink version of it any good?
It's a fucking gamble. i've bought a few chink nendos, and some are really good, but they disassemble quite easy if you happen to touch them. In the other hand, there are some awful ones, got a Kinomoto Sakura without Kero, and two of the three necks broke, plastic was dry due poor storage i guees, and fucking broke.
If you can afford a Nip one, go for it.
I totally forgot I made this thread, thank you lads, I think I'll try for one archetype-she and one body-kun and see how it goes.
>>2905381
Right here. Planning to get the THICC version once its released. Shame about the balloon tits.
I dunno about the knock offs but I really like the body kun, not so much the body chan. it has great poseablility but the animu proportions are bleh. I prefer the figma female blank over the body chan, but the body kun over the figma male blank.
>>2905391
Figma is fucking fragile at the best of times, knock offs... idek.
>/toy/ and ask about cheap manikin reference models, they'll know much more than ic and know explicitly about joint strength, reproductions, costs, accessories etc
Link us the thread if it's successful
>>2907046
whats the skeleton one?
What's the difference between the real/bootleg ones? Besides the bootlegs being waaaaaaay cheaper.
>>2909014
The bootlegs will crumble into thousands of tiny venomous spiders the moment you attempt to pose them.
>>2908534
not him, but it's the Revoltech Takeya Oni skeleton, there's also a Samurai skeleton with the same build and different colours.
I don't like the takeya skulls, but they are the best anatomical skellies, roughly 5", and have great articulation and details.
Takeya is an amazing sculptor too, he's done some great Japanese temple statues as action figures, and is working on a gothic knight on horseback, the dude is a hero.
>>2909425
thanks anon, think imma get one :3
>>2909144
I actually hate spiders. Thanks, I'll have a lighter handy.
