Tell the story of the first painting you sold, and how long it took you to get to that point.
$$**Bonus points**$$ if you include a picture of the first painting and how much it sold for!

In 9th grade I got my teacher to pay me $15 if I drew his dog.
It was probably shit, tho.

Nice teacher though. He supported you and encouraged you with his own money, even if it was just a token amount. I hope you didn't take him for granted.

Yeah I meant to say Commission/Painting in the OP.
Do you think it helped motivate you to stick with it. Your still on /ic/ after all.

I was selling drawings for blue tack (a form of curancy at the time as we weren't allowed to sell/trade stuff for money) in primary school.
Pretty sure that's what I'm still doing now...
I made around 30-40 bucks when I was 7 or 8. I submitted something to a kids magazine and it got approved and published. I actually didn't find out about this until 3-4 years later when I got a random check along with a copy of the magazine. It was kinda strange but it felt good at the same time. That's probably the only money I've made with art tho...

>tfw have been alive this long and haven't been paid for any of my drawings
Really makes me think.

yeah I figure there are a few steps towards making it, but getting for the first time for artwork is easily the first sign you are there.

i don't believe you
>>2897972
yeah, i didnt realy do it for money, as i said itwas for a freind from work- so it covered the materials and few beers for me
>$5 when I was 5, in art fair
>$9 when I was 17, in school auction
>$0 and some in-game items at 28
Diminishing returns
>>2897984
Sure does. If we stopped counting fangirls a lot of anons would be high and dry haha
>>2898022
Honeslty that is kind of where I would like to be. Killing a few hours on a drawing then making enough back to cover my mats or to get better mats, is way more productive than playing a game or something.

$0 and some in-game items at 28
But you got "exposurreee" more valuable than gold lol
