I really want to start making some money by drawing commissions. Where do I start?

I have been drawing seriously for about one year now, and I feel I'm at the same level that I see other artists earn money

I enjoy drawing with pencil, is this bad if I want to make money?
What kind of subject should i draw to get the most commission requests?
What sites is the best ?
Are there enything else I should know?

At this point i just want to start earning some money.

I would like to not draw porn, but if thats the best and easiest way to earn money, maybe I should.

porn is definitely the easiest way to make money, but if you want to save your integrity then there are other ways.

First, it's vital that you identify your target audience. Who would be willing to spend money on what you draw? Where do they gather on the internet? You have to associate yourself with them, become a part of their community, make friends and acquaintances. Don't be a douche, don't express controversial opinions.

Second, build up a decent portfolio of what you're offering and be very specific about your terms and prices. Don't half ass your work, and when you do get commissions, make sure you're putting your best work out. Always try and exceed your client's expectations, their reactions alone will fuel you forward.

Third, be prompt and on time. Don't leave your client waiting for weeks on end with no updates. You'll get loyal clients who will give you multiple commissions if you don't let them down.

I am a traditional artist and I get commissions online, so yes it's possible. People will sometimes hire you specifically because you're traditional, and sometimes they'll prefer digital. That's fine, it's a huge sea of competition so anything to set you apart is a plus. I offer the option to ship the original version of the artwork to them, and some people will hire you based on that.

Hope that helps, good luck.

not him but thanks for the info. i started two months and already sold quite a few, for one i got paid $250 and it took me half a day to complete, although i haven't reach 1k tho.
do you happen to know which sites or forums are good for auto-promoting oneself? or do you happen to have some profile links/names on patreon or some other sites of artists who get paid regularly? i figure it could be very useful for me to see their stuff and compare it with mine and/or learn from them.

Well the most I ever sold a commission for was $100, so I could probably take some advice from you instead.

I will say that if you want to promote, you have to almost pretend you're not doing it? People are often hostile when you try and shill yourself. For example, trying to promote your artwork on a site like reddit is almost impossible if you do that alone. You have to contribute more content to the community outside of your own work (become one of them, essentially) and only then will people actually take your self-promotion seriously with upvotes.

The easiest ways to make money from commissions are probably porn and normie bait like fanart or people paying you to draw their girlfriend/dog/baby etc. None of those have to be super high skill level but since you say you're at a decent level you could do it now.
Think about a specific style though maybe, the kinds of technical skills that impress /ic/ might not be the kind of artsy things normies want to show off to their family and friends.
