You ever get the feeling that you're not getting enough criticism for your work despite how obviously shit it is? Every time I show my drawings to my friends and family, they usually say "Hey that's pretty good." When I ask "how can I do better," they disregard it as me using too much self-deprecation. This is one reason why I don't draw as much as I would like to. Why even bother when everything I do gets praised by everybody I know and have no reason to improve?
Why are you asking them...? Your friends and family who don't know how to draw don't know shit. I don't know how you didn't come to this conclusion on your own.
If you want actual feedback then post your godawful symbol drawings either here or some other hugbox if you don't want your feefees hurt.
>tfw get no praise
>tfw all I get is /ic/'s shitty advice
>>2882932
/ic/ is a hugbox?
>>2882942
here, or somewhere else (a hugbox, e.g)
>>2882930
You don't even fill up a page. If you don't put enough effort in to it why do you even think you deserve critique? you dumb fucking lazy faggot piece of shit
>>2882930
They are not artists, not critics, leave them alone. Go to an art course.
I have a scanned version, but it's above the size limit.
There's more on the way. I need to take photos. Some of them are 18x24"
>>2882930
you can always come here if you want to get shit on
>>2883046
why did you sign this? do you think this is any good?
>>2883061
It was my work and, at the time, that was all that mattered.
That's the last one. I know I'm not the best at drawing, but I try to improve.
>>2883071
you should not sign any of this garbage
It's good that op posts a lot of drawings, it's much easier to tell where he is at than from 1 pic.
Your most glaring weakness is that you have no sense of form and space in any of your drawings.
You should familiarise yourself with the rules of perspective, and do drawings of simple objects where you draw through the form.
For example here
>>2883089
on the smaller cube, the sides doesn't go to a wanishing point, but away from each other, which is wrong
An other thing that will quickly improve your drawings, is when you draw figures pay attention to the proportions of the body and the face
>>2883108
human eyes fall roughly on the middle of the face. you drew a cranium too small
>>2883136
>>2883151
Don't get me wrong; I love it when someone calls my hard work shit, if they want to help me improve. To me, the cruelest thing you can do to an artist is saying their work is good when it really isn't. Isn't that humanity's ultimate goal: To improve itself?
>>2883047
>Paint
>Change size
Why are you blaming others for your lack of motivation?
If I were at your level the first thing I'd do is download Keys to Drawing and finish all the exercises. You need to understand that you're symbol drawing and also should learn basic perspective soon - read Perspective Made Easy for that
>>2882930
>why don't people who know nothing about art critique me property
Youre in the wrong game if you need this explained, friend
Symbol drawing everywhere. Do this OP: >>2884668
1/?
learn how to resize your goddamn scans you lemon
>>2883040
hands are decent in an stylised kinda way
torso is a mess, rib placements are awful, armpits are too high up, pecs are also too high up
>>2883042
bird is decent, head is a bit fucked up but passable
shadow is kind of lazy, but i guess it looks kind of nice maybe
>>2883043
this could have been a really good shading exercise, though it seems you only stuck to two variant shades
lines are a bit wonky, shape could be better defined if they were straighter
>>2883044
very cartoony with proportions
cloak/robe has almost no folds, and those that are there have much to be desired (the hood ones at the top are alright though)
leg indents wouldn't be showing throughout the fabric like that unless it's very tight and being stretched, yet the bottom of the fabric seems as though it's draping loosely over him
once again gonna stress you practise your anatomy if you want to improve in drawing
>>2883046
eye shape is ok
carunkle (little pink bit in eye) is not that wide but is instead more long usually
eyelashes are really, really not good. they vary in length, usually getting longer towards the corner of the eye, and have far more space between them, they're not all bunched up like that
sclera is shaded strangley
folds in skin are a little ehhhh
>>2883047
linework very, very bumpy and unrefined
his ears are fucked up
too stylised for me to know what was intentional and what wasn't
>>2883089
holy shit
work
on
your
values
the lights aren't light enough, the darks aren't dark enough, it kind of looks like a smudged undecipherable mess
work on shading
>>2883098
i'm gonna be way to soft on this one because sketchy crosshatched shit is my weakness and it's appealing to that for me so uh
rabbits ears are fucked up, one that's closest is smaller and one that's further away is larger, that's the opposite of how it should be
neck shading seems a smidge too dark
his body is just a tube
poor bun
very cute face though
2/?
bulk critique rip
>>2883104
was pleasantly surprised by this
the shading on the had on the right actually even looks decent
forefinger on left is a bit fucked
thumb on top is a bit fucked
wrinkles in skin are outlined a little too much for it to look realistic, but the outline of the overall hand isn't outlined enough for it to look stylised
v confusing
but nice anatomy study
keep at it
>>2883108
once again, values are weak as fuck
if you haven't, invest in different lead pencils?
some that are light, some that are dark, so you can shade and have it not look like a blurred mess
clothing folds are eh/10
ear is a mess
facial proportions are a little wonky
eyes look as though they're looking at different places
eyebrows are wtf
lips are wtf
hair is absolute wtf
>>2883112
this is pretty big improvement
that values are way better
facial proportions are decent (though cheekbones are a little ???)
ear is decent
neck seems way too thick
but things seem way less blurry because values are better
keep at it man
we always have a long way to go
You will get better soon enough if you just keep trying and not give up. Judge your art on your improvement and not how shit it is. I was at the same level as you are 6 months ago. Pic related is where I am at now.
Also try looking at some pencil drawings by pics related on Instagram. I learned a lot from her.
>>2882930
why are you asking people who don't know shit about art get yourself some good art friends dude i've said this a million fuckin times but really the best thing you could possibly do is get in a discord server or w/e and basically just draw a bunch of shit with people you admire
>>2887069
I thought that was a good idea and at the time I didn't know what Discord is.
>>2886560
Yeah, I really wish I did a better job on the bun's body.
>>2887021
LOL you should just leave
Somewhat 'cartoony' style of alien-reptile-bug-taur.
Basically I want to know if it creeps you out but also if it's sexy enough that you might go 'Ehhh, I'd tap that.'
The head is hard to 'get right'.
>>2889170
Would tap. Those open legs and breasts. There even looks like an ass in the back while the halberd's shape looks like a dick. The neck further establishes this by relating to the long handle. There's a long tail at the back to really connect it again.
>>2889170
Ew, I am disgusted, though I can't help but feel that boner. MFW
>>2882930
watch this bruv
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEUiohZNe7o
>>2882935
>post in /beg/
>some retard ironically compliments me
>want to improve but too much of and endorphin junkie so I cradle my prescious (you) for the rest of the night
>>2888951
Hahahahahaha you are so sad
>>2886566
If you're still here, I'd like you to tear into me, because i'd like advice with what to consider next.
I drew >>2888361 and >>2886933 and thought "time to move on to portraits+value cartooning" but then these fuckers turned out looking like rejected Fury Road characters. I was thinking to just spend more time/more measurement on each one, what do you say about my technique otherwise?
So the head alone is odd. I like the direction I'm going in here, but it looks aged, 'mature' would be the word.
Think it's the heavy lines that are doing it.
And I keep forgetting the image.
