Have you been in this situation?
I do not enjoy drawing, i just don't feel happy or concetrated doing it.
I like watching art but not practicing.
Is there any way to change this or art just isn't for me?

How long have you been drawing for?

Don't buy into /ic/'s meme that if you're not enjoying it all the time you're not "cut out for art." Learning a new skill is very difficult in the early months, and it's very common to handle difficulty with discomfort and frustration. In my own experience it was like pulling teeth for several months, but gradually I got my baseline of experience and started enjoying the process more and more.
Part of what got me through the earlier months was the mindset. You don't necessarily need to enjoy the act of drawing (at least at the start, if you're still not having any fun after a year or two it might not be for you), but you do need to enjoy the act of learning. You're going to do a lot of shitty art and it's going to frustrate you, but you need to look at it in terms of "my shitty art now is less shitty than my shitty art then, and that feels good."
You need to learn to feel excited when you figure out a new 'trick' or technique that makes something you used to struggle with much easier. When you're first starting out you've got a lot of hurdles, but the nice thing is that with so much to learn you can see substantial gains with very modest amounts of effort. Going from beginner to intermediate is much easier and much quicker than going from intermediate to expert, and from month to month if you put in good effort you'll see very big differences.

Hi. You're not drawing correctly.

Draw what and how your mind wants to draw at that moment, you can fake wanting to perfectly copy busts of Nero or Augustus all day but unless you actually bring yourself to want to draw them and have purpose while drawing them, you'll never enjoy your art.

An example is George Grosz. He was famous for these (in my opinion) rather childlike drawings of people and simplified shapes, but there is a reasoning behind that. There is an essential charm to it. I used to believe that charm didn't exist, but I've been proven wrong by looking at the rest of his work.

He drew these mice caught by traps. They too, are charming in their own right,, and you could tell it's what he wanted to draw when he wanted to draw them.

Pay attention to your needs. You'll never "make it" if you don't, that's actually the big secret.

You know what's really fucking bad? What really fucking hurts?

My artwork used to be shit just about a year ago. Recently I've been studying my ass off, every day, I wake up in the morning and i'm reviewing what I read the night before in my mind. I improved my artwork so much. It's not AMAZING but it doesn't even remotely look as bad as it used to. But guess what? I'm making less money now. I wanted to improve my art for the sake of making more profit but i'm getting the exact opposite result. I am making HALF of what I used to. This is what dying feels like.

Well did you stop drawing furry inflation porn?

Damn, you are alright.
I never thought about drawing stuff i like, i've been drawing cups and bowls for two months and it's fucking boring.
I'll try to draw vidya stuff from today on, thank you very much for your advice.

>You need to learn to feel excited when you figure out a new 'trick' or technique that makes something you used to struggle with much easier.

I have felt this, i drew a negative space from a Black and White picture, and it looked so freaking cool.

Thanks both of you, i'll do what you said i literally don't have anything else to do with my life atm so i hope i don't waste the little chance to improve i have right now.

>Not Practicing

That's why you don't enjoy drawing. You're expecting the end result but don't want to put in the practice time to get there.

Want to change that? PRACTICE. ON anything. Use reference. Trace. Do whatever you need to get better.

The only reason art won't be for you is if you don't PRACTICE.

>he has to practice
Never gonna make it.

Is there something in particular you want to draw? If so, draw that and if it's bad then learn what will make it good. If you don't like drawing enough to stick with it to see the end result then don't do it.
>>
>>2877396
i draw whether i enjoy it or not. art is a way of life. if you can't get over that hurdle. pick another craft

How the fuck do I think while drawing?

Whenever I draw my inner voice shuts up, which makes drawing a torture. Listening to music or podcasts doesn't helps.

Why can't I think in words while drawing?

>Whenever I draw my inner voice shuts up
Be glad. At least it's not telling you that you're not gonna make it with each line you put down.

I would prefer that over the nihilistic silence.
