Whenever I post mediafire link, it gets up to 300-500 downloads. Assuming not everyone downloads the files I post we are looking at least ~900 people who come to this board on a daily basis with only 80 people who actively post daily who are power users.

Yeah there's a small number of shit posters that ruin things for sure. The general quality too though I feel is pretty low the last couple years. Feels like the skill level is lower, there are more meme threads, way more porn and anime etc.

Like looking at the catalog like 75% of threads are just garbage memes about not making and being depressed, memes about Feng/RJ/KJG, some forced threads with like 2 posts trying to make some dude's shitty black and white images a joke, or very basic questions by noobs that don't need their own thread. There's only like a tiny handful of decent threads at all.

The very few people here who are actually skilled have either long left, or maybe some have migrated to LAS and don't participate here anymore. And yes I realize that people have been complaining "things aren't as good as the good ol' days" for years, but I genuinely feel this community has been in steady decline for a long time now and it's reached the point where I don't feel like being super involved any more.

No, this is actually down by a lot. The porn threads barely have activity, and occasionally don't even get reposted for weeks.
If anything's changed, it's the massive influx of tumblrcunts. They're everywhere. You can see it both in the art styles, the tame criticism they give and how offended they are when confronted by run-of-the-mill 4chan board culture.

But yeah, there are a lot of shitposting and bait threads, which I strongly suspect are created by a single autistic asshole. If the mods and janitors would pay attention, this problem could be drastically reduced, but we're mostly cut off from civilization our here in the wastes of /ic/. We must fend for ourselves.

That was never the case. I've been posting here more or less since the inception of the board, and people have always been whining about anime, despite the fact that anime has always been popular here.

On average, /ic/ has a daily post count ranging between 1,500 and 2,000. It's a fairly small board, and assuming most of those whom use /ic/ are normally lurkers while active users disproportionately make more posts, then it would be safe to assume that /ic/'s active population would range from 2,000 - 3,000. Personally, came here from /pol/ after it became an absolute shithole, Trump's election in November finally freeing me from the board and politics in general. Really, it was /pol/'s sterile lack of original content with the same memes and images posted over and over and my jealousy of high-rendering artists in general that pushed me to finally learn art.

This is a slow board, which propagates it's slowness by being slow. What I mean is that there are a number of users but they check this board maybe twice a day instead of multiple dozens of times like on /pol/ etc.

Also this board has more transient users. A lot of the people in the beginner thread come and go after 2 weeks. Persobally I've been on this board for 4 years but I have 1 year stretches where I haven't visited once. The culture here is worse than most other creative boards, except for the two or three good threads like /beg/, alternative art, question thread, and critique threads in general. There are honestly like 5 threads at a time on the entire board that are worth reading and posting in, whereas even a shitty board like /lit/ has at least a third of its threads worth checking out.

your link probably gets passed around in other websites or among friends, trust me there's only like 150 people tops in /ic/, lurkers and posters.

based on the number of unique posters in the most popular threads, i would be legitimately surprised if this board had anymore than 300 active posters per 2 weeks (by active i mean participating at all beyond showing up and making a single thread and possibly interacting there before leaving forever)

4chan's rank globally 0ct 2016 was 532 and 175 in the US. That means a huge amount of traffic. Even if /ic/ only gets a fraction of that it's still a lot more than a few hundreds I would imaging. From my personal experience a lot of people around the net on art fora seems to be aware of /ic/'s existence and that supports the idea that it is at least well known.
