I hope not. Most of my fanbase is on DeviantArt simply from longevity vs. Tumblr where I've got fucking nothing.

From my understanding, this acquisition only benefits Wix, allowing users to have access to the artwork of DeviantArt users (upon agreement from the artist). As for how this benefits DeviantArt users? They don't say, they only say that new features will be introduced over time.

I could see it working out for the better so long as they keep a few things:
Giving people their own url (Might even be able to improve on this now to make it a more legitimate website or perhaps have an option to make it one where only members see comments and such thus can be used for portfolio? Idk lots of possibilities here)

and as long as they change the name. Let's face it, deviantart isn't synonymous with a good art site or community, it's a chance for it to become something better again.

Know how to code and get a theme and tweak it to your liking.

I bet you hope that, but it's about as realistic as IP holders suing youtube over let's players and movie reviewers. It's called free advertizing and if you knew anything about marketing whatsoever, you'd know how dumb and counter productive it would be for a company to sue in order to stop people from creating something that is promoting their products for free.
