Gestures are a meme. You only need to get good at them if you want in on animation or comics and even then it's a meme. Read force for animators if you want dynamics in your anatomy.

Sometimes I wonder of gestures are a plot to make people quit art early on. It's way harder than it looks and would take an insane amount of time to get right if you're a beginner. Unfortunately I fell for the meme and wasted a good six months when I started (t-thanks Vilppu)
