Hey,
Just wondering what is the name of this type of art... I don't know anything about art, so not even sure if there is a category name per say.
Would love to buy a replica canvas of some of this paintings.
Would appreciate the help.
Thanks
I'd say they have some kind of Italian renaissance art feel about them. Seeing as they demonstrate high levels of ability. However, it's difficult to define the "genre" in which a painting could be placed. But to answer the question. Try searching: Realism art, Oil on canvas, Italian Renaissance art or perhaps look up artists like Rembrandt and see where you'll go from there. Hope this was helpful ;P

Historical.

No, it's not italian renaissance! That is hundreds of years before these. These are from 1800s-1900s, I don't think if the period has a name. >>2869669 is a pre-raphaelite painting. You can better try finding a painting if you know the artist. Hope the 1800-1900s helps.
HIstory painting
A genre of pictures from history or mythology

fuck yea Repin.
With the exception of >>2869650 these are 19thC European paintings. The style would be Academic, and the genre History Painting/Historical.
>>2869815 is right in that these are NOT related the the Renaissance. I would disagree about the John Collier piece being Pre-Raphaelite, maybe in a very loose sense it could be argued that it is, but I wouldn't typically categorize it as such.
Hey guys, thank you for helping out...
