How do you choose your online name as an artist? I'm kind of afraid that I will choose a name that I will eventually get bored of/hate it and I'll have to live with it until I die. Finiding a catchy and pleasing name is fucking difficult
.
Should I just use my real name?

if you ever plan on going pro, use your real name

>not wanting to be known as Sakimichan

Does this mean using a nickname will make you look less professional/reduce your chances in the industry?
>>2863896
as a general rule, yes.

Got it. Kind of scared of using my real name because I don't really like attention, but I guess that's a price to pay.

This isn't true, no. Plenty of successful artists use a name other than their real name. It's their brand, in a way.
As for how to pick a name, most use their username for sites like conceptart.org and deviantart. Just don't pick anything cringey or childish, pick something that gives the impression you want to give.

>Wants to be a successful artist
>Doesn't want the attention
What the fuck is the point of becoming an artist then? Being an artist requires you to network, meet people, and being scared of attention is a draw back. Grow up and accept it, because it's the only way you'll become recognized.

The point of becoming an artist shouldn't be (or at the very least doesn't have to be) just to get attention, anon. The things you listed are ways of getting attention as means to the ends of becoming a successful artist, but what you describe as "what's the point then?" means you view art as a means to the ends of getting attention.
I think you can use real name or short variants - Robert Haritson =RobHari Harits RoHari
I use sounds of my name +fantasy motive

>to the ends of getting attention
Really makes me think.
Must be pretty insecure.

Did I ever mention anywhere the reason I make art it to get attention? You just assumed that is what I meant, but in fact it isn't. I really meant to put is as attention is part of becoming professional, if you're scared of attention, you're not going to be successful, that's plain and simple. So what would be the point of pursuing art if you're scared of one aspect of it? I'm not scared of attention so I don't think about it, I make art because it makes me happy, and I like to invoke something in people. You try to psychoanalyze me off of one reply I made.

this shit's agonizing for me.
i've had like 5 online names and i don't really care for any of them.
i can never think of one i'm just fine with and stick with it.
The trend I see most artist go by: start with a handle, and then once you start becoming pro, begin using your real name. Your handle, which is more memorable, and your real name will be linked.
I have an extremely generic name, so handles are good for people like us.
I found mine as I was looking for an image to shitpost with in google images I looked at the file name and it caught my attention so I searched the filename nickname used and it was unique nobody had it so I used it and became top rank in google easy. As for the image I never posted it for my shitpost. The end.
I read one of those stupid illuminati theory articles and they called Beyoncé or Kim Kardashian (cant remember) a "baphomet bimbo", I thought it was hilarious and decided to use that. I draw porn exclusively, though, so I can get away with it.
