Many of you are citing people like Sakimichan and Ruan Jia as examples of making it
But none of them compare to this guy(and his art in the pic)

YUP, 24K A MONTH! Noah Bradley, Ruan Jia, Feng Zhu, Kim Jung Gi, Todd Lockwood all make less than him, and he's not even 1/3 as skilled!
Remember folks, furrydom pays

Sakimichan makes 60000 a month though.
>>2859866
when she feels like it. most months she's lazy and only does 1 term.
>>2859807
never heard of him, but apparently he owns several games. 98% of his patrons chose the $10 option that promises perks relating to his games. so that explains it. he's not where he is for his drawings shitty drawings.
Why is it that furrys pay so much compared to other fandoms?
>>2863468
Furries are mentally ill and have no concept of the value of money.
>>2863448
1 term is already 6k more than the furry guy.
>>2863448
What the fuck is a 'term' anyway
im not doing anything other than art, and hell may not even do it for money. i will live in the shadows enjoying my art peace
>>2863452
This. The dude does games and shit primarily, and that's what brings in the money. Un-wad your panties.
>>2859807
It kinda makes sense though, hes making a furry porn game and the others are "just" drawing
>completely disregarding the fact that he's 10 times more known for pretty much the only good furry indie dev and not for his artwork
Are you even trying, nigger?

I've never been into furry stuff and find the subculture weird, however I do like drawing the occassional anthropomorphic beast and do fantasy art as a freelancer. My style is more like a cross of Yoji Shinkawa and Frazetta though. Could such a style be marketable to furries? I have absolute no interest in doing the clean airbrushed cartoony look with neon dicks that seem to be popular among furries.
>>2863468
Furries don't have official merch that caters to them, generally. Most other fandoms have official stuff to spend money on. There are obsessive fans in regular fandoms but they can drop their thousands of dollars on signed editions and photos ops and colllector merch. Furries don't have that so they put their thousands back into the fans.
>>2863468
They've built themselves a culture around creating OCs and having art for them. When a portion of the community pays for art or fursuits and shows them off, it entices others to do so. They've kind of got their own mini-economy.

So if I start drawing shit like this which is really not difficult for me and set up a Patreon account I could earn money with it that easily? I mean there must be something wrong with it
>>2863522
What furry guy?

Yes

You'd be drawing for furries

>develops furry porn games
He's not really known for his art. If any of the artist you mentioned were making games aswell (preferably porn) they'd probably be making just as much.
Look at kemocoliseum
https://www.patreon.com/kemocoliseum
It's just bejeweled with porn scenes (although NG is a great artist by comparison). it's something interactive that's also pornographic, that's why people back it.

At least they have actual Japanese people working on it seems
Not some white kid from Ohio who decided he wants to become an ANIMU FURRY ARTIST after seeing some art on pixiv and watched an episode of Legendz then fails epicly at it
>>2867349
>actual Japanese people working on it seems
Don't see why it matters. If they can deliver the style. There's a surprising amount of artist, furry and otherwise, with anime styles that are decent and aren't actually eastern, although I will agree the greater majority of people who do so are pretty bad.
Let's please not talk about Patreon in here. Gives me the fucking creeps.
>>2867455
WTF is Patreon?

I said this in another post a while ago but yeah your average person doesn't give a shit about technical skill or whatever. You do, obviously, but that's because you're an artist. A lot of art is made for other artists, but there's a clean divide separating an artist's taste from what people like Joe McAverage's tastes.
Consider Afremov -- everything he makes is horrible kitschy garbage. From an artist's perspective everything's either painfully basic or just straight up mindless. But what does Tasteless McMoneyPants think? They LOVE IT.
Obviously Joe Schmoe and xDSirFluffypantsoWo aren't the same demographic but it's the same principal. If you make art for other artists you're going to be disappointed because we're a critical hardnosed bunch. Plus, most of us are too fucking broke to buy your art anyways. Why? Because we keep making art for ourselves lmao
I'm not saying you're wrong to be upset, in fact it's perfectly understandable. You put a lot of love and care into your art and being ignored hurts. HOWEVER if you're complaining about this purely from a pragmatic/financial approach then you're fucking stupid full stop.
Art has always pandered to the lowest common denominator. Shakespeare and James Joyce wrote dick jokes. The old masters were known to make glorified pornography. What you really want to do is make art for other people as a job and then make the art you like/care about for yourself. Bolster your numbers and try to bring attention to what you'd rather be working on.
