hey yall
I'm in art school and I've started thinking about doing some freelance on the side, to pay for life. $$$ from my summer gig is running low.
But I've never looked into this before, and I'm wondering if there are any go-to places that artists can fish around for work.
I'm a competent draftsperson and I'm open to drawing just about anything, even lewd stuff, with the exception of sexual shit involving childlike characters.
But my usual work is layouts/backgrounds, prop design, character design, and basic animation.
I don't have a Twitter/FB art page/etc. where I can advertise my work and I don't have a lot of followers on Tumblr, but I do have a regular professional portfolio online (on a portfolio site). I need to start making money asap, so I don't really have time to build a following right now.
Anyway my question is aimed at anyone here who may have freelanced/done commissions in the past. How did you find clients? Any fanart sites, forums, whatever?
thx peeps
regular freelance sites if the idea of being a cheap prostitute sharpens your pencil
http://www.conceptart.org/go/artjobs/ if the idea of being a middle class escort primes your canvas
build your own audience and do commissions if the idea of being a village harlot that gets all of her money from the same 3 peasants -uh... boots up your photoshop? idk

If there was any trick in just immediately finding work, do you think so many people would be broke?

If you want to literally be a whore you can always just make a lewds pateron and whore it on twitter/tumblr/deviantart.
Or go full hooker and just do fetish commissions for furries and other wierdos.

Welcome to art business. People are paying you for what they want to see and that can include porn. It sure as hell pays better than being a dishwasher or a cashier and there's more freedom than holding a regular office job.
>inb4 you are a fetish/porn artist.
I'm not, I just respect those who do.
