I mean on the one hand animation is expensive so if it's going t be a series over a movie it needs to be simple so it's easy to animate quickly. If it's a movie though...I dont see much of an excuse, especially if it's pixar making it.

Man, you really know nothing about design if you think Disney of all companies is doing a poor job at that. Obviously, they design their shit for a different audience so it's not gonna be generic kaiju and transformers looking mechas. They design for appeal and recognizability and they do an excellent job at that.

Wouldn't remember that Fredzilla was the name of the suit, but I'd definitely recognize it as a character from the Disney movie and maybe remember Fred's name given a few seconds.
