I really hate /ic/ in the sense that most people expect self-taught artists to immediately pick-up the correct, proper way of doing things without a real teacher.

I'm certain the person in the OP could've learned how to really draw in a couple of weeks with the right teacher/resources, but it generally doesn't work that way.

Most teachers make the fatal mistake of expecting the student to know basic perspective, so they're popping invisible lines that others will think they're visualizing.
