At least for me..

I mean I always get into these ruts where everything I draw is so shit, that I just want to give up. It's something that's been happening ever since I started drawing, and t b h I feel really tired of feeling this way.

It's just so unstable, and unsteady, some days are terrible and others are ok. When I come across a good day, in the very back of my mind, I'm dreaded by the thought of when the next bad day is going to come.. possibly the next day? the next hour? And these bad periods last waaay longer than the good periods, that it's just sucked the life out of me at this point, leading me to more depression, and being unable to get good grades at school, so I decided quitting is the best option.

Brown pencil and water color brush under then milk pen highlights for this.
I can't say there was much process to this besides that since honestly I was testing out some brushes while trying my hand at sketching some uguu.
If you want the pens, top is for sale or you can find a dl in archives, second is in the materials section, and last is just a brush I whipped up and is easy to replicate or make better.

The BG is also a downloadable material they have under クラフト紙セット(craft paper set) but you can make pretty decent paper textures using filter>draw>perlin noise and editing the colors, adding extra layers, and or airbrushing on some imperfections which is what I usually do if I don't actually scan paper samples but I was being lazy this time.

Actually it's not necessary. Yes knowing fundamentals like form and anatomy help but you don't NEED to be able to draw realistically. I talked to a lot of great animu artists who told me they never did realistic drawings.

I think your drawing is too stiff. You don't give yourself enough liberty. Don't try to make everything perfect or just too basic because you followed a generic animu construction. It feels like you've been forced to do that. You have to fail to progress. Do not fear failure.
For now, you should learn the fundamentals. But don't stop to draw for yourself beside and have fun.

The long answer is why some people in this thread asks why non anime arts can draw good anime girls. They learn the fundies.
I personally think Loomis isn't a meme and can get you started on structural drawing, but for anime, you'll want later (as in, practice with realistic proportions first, faggot) to play with the proportions to match a certain anime style.

That's not true either anon. There's great imagination artists on here but when they try do a still life or 1:1 life drawing they can't do it. A lot of the skills are transferable and I'd agree that more imagination/memory is better so people don't proko, but there's also different skills and neither way is completely transferable to the other.
Basically do both.

Cuz I like this sketch a lot. The line thickness, lighter values and scribble shading. The messiness of the lines give it a very human feel despite it being digitally painted.

I can't recreate my sketches in photoshop like others can and that frustrates the hell out of me. It's a reminder that I can never do this unless I scan my images first.
