So many of these books that I had heard about or have browsed in bookstores but could not afford them and yet knew of their importance for gitting gud at drawing.

And a few like Imaginative Realism that blew my fucking mind years ago when I picked it up in B&N but then realized most of it is just the artist/authors OC donut steel dinosaurs living amongst humans alt reality world and that didnt interest me enough to pick it up for the price it was for at the time despite how great his art was

What I like about his work is he is very effective at communicating the sheer scale of things by always including terrain and people.

From what I can observe, I think it's how he relies on large, simple forms, limited amount of detail, and use of contrast. Compare to Berkey >>2846264 whose subjects are consistent with the level of detail and contrast all around. It still looks good, but just does have that sense of scale.

Bruegel, Bosch, Schöngauer painted a lot of demons in their Temptations of Saint Anthony.

There are a lot of books about biblical symbolism but not really artbooks.

It's from one of those Osprey military books. The artist is signed below right, is Graham Turner. The image in question is from a volume of the Warriors series; "Condottiere 1300–1500". You can probably find it on Libgen.

Turner also did some gorgeous illustrations for the Teutonic knights volume.

Yeah, these books are very easy to find scanned online. They may look meme-ish but the first volumes actually have some valuable stuff on fundamentals, perspective, etc. though it puts a lot of emphasis on the tools of traditional manga, including a whole lot of pages spent on how to cut and apply screentone which seems like a waste of time nowadays.

This, I've always found the painters who do stuff for Osprey to be particularly bad, even the "good" ones like Angus McBride and Keith Rocco. In my opinion the only legitimately good military painter nowadays is Augusto Ferrer-Dalmau.

I don't know which tutorial you're talking about, there are a few I've seen but this book is pretty damn magical, amazing illustrations. Way better than I was expecting, though a bit wordy in some places. Just read the start where she talks about the axis and medial planes etc. Which could have probably been cut down a bit.
