Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

All I care about is drawing good porn. Are portrait studies really going to help? Should I jump right into Hampton's figure drawing books, or? What's r he optimal path for someone like me?

There is no optimal path. If you want to draw porn, draw porn.

Figure drawing courses help. Hampton is good and easy to understand, but no requirement to draw porn. Find out what works for you and show some initiative.

is it better to solo grind or watch lectures for example vilppu

Portrait studies are not important all, jump to figure drawing.
At a later point portraits do aid in learning to draw different faces.

>>
>>2839358
It's one way to give yourself hope. You love drawing and you have this image in your head that you're somewhat good at it but reality is different. So they try to find excuse like "I didn't put enough effort on this." Happens to everyone one way or another. It's somekind of phobia. That irrational fear that you might not have any talent.

Or it could really be his first time doing it.

I used to have that fear but then I learn that all you have to do is work at it.
>>
>>2839358
it's the same thing as people calling their art shit and stuff as if it'll repel anyone else from doing so and hurting their feeling
>>
>>2839424
That's because you're not analyzing shape, forms, the underlying construction of your subject. There's a reason people call it studying. There's already tecnique like loomis head construction to use along with your studies.

Analyze, memorize, imitate and then create.

Or you disregard the fundamentals and do "muh feels" drawings...
>>
>>2839163
Work on your face.

it takes a lot of time and thoughtful practice to learn to draw, and sometimes when you are actually improving it feels the most painful. u can give up if you want but you have barely scratched the surface, maybe you need to approach differently/rethink how you are working and what resources you take from. anyway if you can see what you're doing wrong then go implement the changes until you get it right. i recommend trying to isolate the elements of a human figure until you can describe form -> draw 15 eyes, render a couple, ears, noses, hands, feet, etc until you feel like you are ready to approach a full figure, because honestly it looks like your drawing is done way too quickly/without enough details

>>2839899
the most imaginative work uses reference from life. so basically keep drawing new and different things until you have cemented in your mind what shapes there are. if you have an idea draw it out w/o reference but you can come back with reference and add a lot more to it.

Anyone who can draw and has information to give posts in the Draw Threads.

>>
>>2840157

did you even try with the eyes?
>>
>>2840170

this is not all so bad. You mostly understood the eye forms, and you probably got the likeness (idk).

The lips are hasty, the nose doesn't even make anatomical sense, the ear is very simplified, brow ridge doesn't make sense (surely if you're a dude it's going to have a ridge, right? it doesn't flow into the nose like that in 99% of white men), cheeks are somewhat an afterthought hair you kinda just treated as a single form instead of actually deconstructing the minor forms of strands at the very least.

The forehead doesn't quite make sense either. Very flat, should recess in more of a curved fashion.

This thread serves its purpose as a containment thread for the retards who can't even be bothered to put even a little effort.

I'm still on KTD, so far it just says to sketch the overall shape, establish midpoint and centre lines. I did that, I just erased the midpoint and centre lines.

there should be a split into absolute /beg/ and /beg/. /intermediate/ too. the fact that those shitters share a thread with the likes of jezza is a shame.
>>

IIRC there used to be an absolute beg thread but it eventually merged with the beg thread.
It's better this way imo, that way absolute beginners will at least get some criticism from people who are seriously getting into drawing and maybe some of them will actually gain something from this.

Why is this shit so hard to do with my shoulder? Half the time I notice that my wrist has taken over.
>>
drawing with the shoulder is the comfiest feeling
it feels like there is no weight at all to any of my strokes so i can do whatever and it'll work out just fine
>>
>>2841105
Ellipses are the hardest thing to do pretty much ever. It's not even a shoulder issue. You subconsciously switch to wrist probably because it feels like it has more control. I used to do three sheets of those each day, get my shoulder sore just for those gains. Although, I stopped doing that because screw practicing ellipses. I just draw from life nowadays.
>>
>>2841107
Different guy

Is the pivot point for straight lines and curves the elbow or do I have to just try and engage my shoulder for all of them
>>
>>2841109
You use whatever fits the situation. Shoulder allows wider range of motion, elbow is for more precise things, but in the end, you'll probably do it on reflex. It doesn't really matter how you do it as long as it comes out right. I think the answer to your question is yes because the concept is the same.

>>
>>2841224
You're being too precise, faces aren't exact. Those are just guidelines. You need to combine it with sight drawing.
>>
>>2841225
By sight do you mean life drawing from a model? I always get so hung up on proportions for some reason...
>>
>>2841227
From sight, I mean from a reference. That could be a model in life or from an image off of google. If you're really so hung up on proportions, you'll really go crazy when drawing actual faces. The proportion control is very precise or else it doesn't look correct.

Style (which includes anime) comes from a refined understanding of how the real world works. To know that, you must be at least somewhat competent in the fundamentals of the human body and anatomy. And yes, it does take a while. However, that should not stop you from drawing what you want and having fun.

Pic related is an extreme example of what happens when your fundamentals are not in order. Don't end up like him.

If you're lucky enough you'll find a comment where someone says something negative yet tries to be constructive. He shoves it off so unbelievably douchey and defensively that it makes me question if he has mental/behavioral issues.

You could use a bit of drawing on the right side of the brain before you get to loomis. I got tripped up when I started with Loomis; it's better to visit it later.

I'm digging the bottom right guy though.

So I have a very specific problem when I draw from imagination. When I follow my own proportions like on the left. My characters look ok. But when I do them according to the standard ones like on the right they come out all wrong.

How does this happen?

By the way. I have finished drawing on the right side of the brain and am starting keys to drawing right now. I'm just asking about this spefic thing.
