IIRC amateurs should charge 15-25 burger tickets hourly, graduates 20-40 and professionals can charge 50-150.

That's for freelance illustration. Obviously you charge different for animation, comic panels, graphic design, web design...

No, you're genuinely retarded and wrote nothing of merit.

>amateurs should charge 15-25 burger tickets hourly, graduates 20-40 and professionals can charge 50-150.
None of these words mean anything.
You're not a fucking amateur if you're charging 15-25 dollars per hour to do something, and you're not going to be charging twenty five fucking dollars an hour if you can't draw, so the other interpretation goes out the window as well.

"Graduate" is even more retarded, and you straight up pulled the professional rate out of your ass.
>>
>>2815926

Oh, yes. I just pulled the artists' guild handbook of pricing and ethical guidelines off my ass. Just kill yourself already, you fucking ignorant retard.

it's a garbage book that is shunned by actual illustrators because it's too arbitrary and stupid, and is equally as stupid as deviant art slave prices.
here's a good guide for a healthy thought process

$50 per hour is a pretty commonly cited minimum fee for a professional freelancer. Not just for art either. $50 per hour for guitar lessons is also common. An A/C repair man will charge you $60 just to show up to your house.

This book is made by arrogant modern art artists and jewish art dealers.
A piece should be sold for the price that an artist is willing to sell it for and collector is willing to buy it for.
>>
>>2815973
The book covers pricing for commercial art by industry (graphic design, web design, illustration, surface design, etc). Nothing about modern art or collectors.

$300k starting

How does it feel to waste so much time on nonsense? No practical applications at all.
>>

$300 a portrait so about $5 an hour
>>
>>2815926
This makes you seem like you are the retard. How funny is that?
>>
Back in the day when I was a late teen, I charged $30/hr. But I drew really fast. So I got like $30 for a full body sketch which took me an hour. I didn't draw porn, but I drew furries.

>I don't understand economics
No one is going to pay you that much, even if everyone did raise the price to Industry standard and for some reason people didn't start undercutting each other 99% simply wouldn't pay for it, only the rich and dumb would and they'd just skip fandom artists and pay for a professional anyway.

Again, its set at that price because that is what people are willing to pay for amateur, unreliable artists.
>>
>>2815926
>and you straight up pulled the professional rate out of your ass.
indeed pros charge 250 per comic page non inked btw

If you are a decent artist and connect with decent people, then you can charge them DECENT prices.

If you simply whore yourself to cringy autists on DA/Tumblr, then you deserve to be paid in shit coins.

>they'd just skip fandom artists and pay for a professional anyway.

that's why you must have some level. You can't be /beg/-tier and charge the same as an established professional.
>>
>>2816086
If you are at that point then you're practically are or on your way to becoming a freelance pro.
>>
I've never been able to charge hourly. I charge per project. And I always charge different amounts, depending on who I'm drawing for.

I think it's easier if you ask for a budget first, that way you know if the client actually respects your artwork or wants a 100 AAA quality spaceship designs for $30.

>How does it feel to waste so much time on nonsense? No practical applications at all.

Honestly it feels pretty good. It's the most interesting thing I have ever thought about and I'm happy to do so most days.

Also, getting a fucking job is a practical application that allows me to fuck around with drawing as I live in relative comfort. A pure math degree is a piece of paper that to any employer reads "I am very fucking smart and know how to work very hard at very difficult tasks." Better than an art degree to most people.

It's about 30k starting not 300k, but it's worth it to know so much about a fascinating subject.

its not talking about fine art. at all.
its mostly about graphic design and illustration, both professions regularly use an hour based pay system.

fine artists however do not charge per hour, and normally have a fixed piece price. depending on notoriety.

^this

Its also why building a fanbase is so important. The more sheep you have the more youre able to get away with

On the other hand, cringy autists in Furaffinity have tons of cash.

It's called priorities, anon. You may want food, a nice car, a roof over your house, but these people are saving for something else.

£30 an hour for non business/commercial clients, this includes private commissions, non profit and the like.

£50 an hour for profit orientated clients and businesses, if they're a large company then £70.
