It seems that there's no one correct list of the fundies, so I'm trying to design my own, more general and better structured, listed by how you should be progressing.
Line, shape and form represent the 1D, 2D and 3D spaces you should be familiar with.
Asymmetry and rhythm belong to shape design, so that's where gesture is.
Light and shadow is right after form and plane - we're still talking general here, no subject matter.
I'm unsure whether visual library is a "fundamental skill". It is technical, but it's also different from the others.
If it's not, then where would it belong?
Any tips? Did I miss something? Let's make this table perfect.
copypasta:
>ART
>technical side (objective):
>fundamental skills, aka. the fundamentals
>line
>shape (gesture;)
>form (perspective and construction; planes)
>color and light (values; edges; hue and saturation;)
>composition
>visual library
>creative side (subjective):
>storytelling, idea, contrast, joke, personal style etc.

I guess he means straight lines?
OP, there's a beginner's thread for the fundamentals, which is on the front page. Why don't you go ask there

Pic related explains my thought process.
But I guess you're right, so point taken.

You mean /beg/? That one's for submissions and critiques.
If you mean the Sticky, there IS a list of the fundamentals, but it's incomplete and not structured at all. That's why I'm making this one.
I'm trying to put together a big ass tutorial of some sort and this seems like a very important topic to cover.
I break i into:
mark making (draw straight lines and round elipses etc, make the pen do what you tell it)
observation
Form
-perspective
-measured perspective
-intuitive perspective
-gesture
painting
-value
-value structure
-lighting
-colour
visual library(what this includes depends heavily on the artist, could included anatomy, animal anatomy, clothing, vehicles, environment etc)
you could also probably put memory drawing in there
