going through my books in preparation of trying to make 2017 a good year for art gains.

I'm gonna be working on perspective and conceptualizing today.

i've collected them as i go. so im nowhere near rich.
the other "art books" i have are kim jung gi's 2013 and 2016, darks souls art books, deus ex, simon stalenhags book. and a few others for inspiration. it's always nice to look through them for inspiration.

Finishing up the Olson lectures before I start the New Year with... A bunch of other garbage. Robertson, I guess.

Although I want to jump back into anatomy so I can draw characters again, but I'm doing extensive perspective so I don't suck so badly at that, so... Fuck.

I felt the same way a few months ago, but when you finally finish all that perspective practice and get back to figure drawing, you'll see a huge difference in your abilities. Don't forget about Sketching the Basics. You should only need to spend about a week on it to finish it, but it'll help you tie in perspective with your anatomy studies.

this year's resolution was to start making commission money

finished this painting. hopefully i get at least a grand for it. but new years resolution is to get into a higher end gallery so i can charge more for my work. spending 3 days on a painting and only getting to charge $800 for it does not a career make

Nah man you just gotta keep telling yourself that until it happens. Believe it, act like it's going to happen, and work like you're already making it. Work hard 8 hrs a day like it's your job, even if that means reading your loomis at your shitty day job so you get more time practicing at home.

If working your ass off to make it happen doesn't sound appealing, then yeah you should just quit.
