His videos are really good if you want to see how a master study is done and the techniques and approaches used by mannerist and baroque painters in drawing and composition. He has researched studied just about every sketch and painting coming out of the high renaissance and it shows when he does a study of one. His construction videos are more directly useful and watching his approach and rhythm quickly brought me from being shit to okay.

He's better to watch than read, but if renaissance figure drawing technique isn't your thing, you won't like it.

His figure drawing borrows some from Renaissance onward and uses them as examples for certain lessons, but isn't at all like the Renaissance. Looking at old master drawings makes this obvious.
