>>2765092
This is exactly what I'm talking about. It's all ego with you, and ego gets in the way of art. I'm not going to drag my name through the mud by measuring dicks with you on /ic/. If I'm worse than you, you get the validation you so desperately seek. If I'm better, you'll claim you have the superior vision, the avant garde masterpieces that the world simply refuses to accept. Either way I look as petty as you, and I'd really rather not.
>>
>>2765101

Oh don't worry, you can't possibly be worse at art than Cumbum here unless you're a lobotomized chimpansee. Best you just snicker and refrain from getting mad at the waste of materials his "work" is. The anon describing it as pidgeon diarrhea is pretty spot on.
>>
>>2765101
>>2765140

He is right though - he posted his work and it actually is exhibited, same with Brian, while you are butthurt nobody. And before "oh right guys, I should do more Bargue plates and master realism like Sargent, sorry for sucking" which you perceive ad humility an artist should be confident and follow his vision. Whatever you wouldn't say about that cunteye, he knows what he is doing, is competent AND is getting better and experimenting.

Now post your work or go >>>/beg/

How is it about ego for me when you are the one trying to stomp me down because of your delusional ideological belief about what is good and bad art? I really have no inclination to do the art that you think is good. This is nicely done. There is overall atmosphere of darkness about the painting. It reveals the dark side of society and man's slaughter of animals. It's realism
>>
>>2765392
>It reveals the dark side of society and man's slaughter of animals

It reveals nothing of the sort. There's nothing "dark" about raising and slaughtering animals for food.

Your whole comment is just dumb.
>>
>>2765409
I personally want to be a vegetarian. I oppose eating meat because it's abuse and slaughter of animals.

Your saying that there is nothing wrong with killing animals is a belief that comes from Judeo Christiam tradition.

Eating meat =/= abuse of animals.

You can choose to eat meat that is humanely raised & slaughtered, and not from a factory farm.

Interesting comments. It's based on old family photos, which I was initially drawn to because of the gore and violence. I was vegetarian for a year or two but was basically a carnivore by the time I painted this. So I did want to emphasize the cold indifference of the figures to the slaughter, and the blood and guts and flies and mess, and the anxious sky.

A lot of the comments I've gotten about this painting, especially from people of a certain age who witnessed or participated in a slaughter, just got a jolt of nostalgia because these scenes were once common. In fact they get somewhat warm feelings remembering how the family or community would all participate in the slaughter.

I think it's interesting that the painting evokes such a range of responses. I can see both views, slaughtering animals is necessarily a little horrific or disturbing, but a rural hog slaughter is nothing compared to the factories that churn out patties for your big macs, so these deaths are something most of us are complicit in.

I think the most disturbing thing might be that people no longer see the slaughter.

be careful about trying to get your paintings to evoke an emotion based on the subject matter.

you painted a slaughterhouse and it made people think of slaughterhouses isn't exactly an accomplishment.

a lot of your work is a bit too similar. not playing with the paint itself in an interesting way. these come across mostly as a vessel for you to improvise a drawing and fill it in with color

Thanks man. Good stuff, like the work you did in both of them, especially ravens had to be a bitch with all those feathers.

I guess what I notice is that in parts there are problems with dimensionality of your drawings, in parts they are flat. IMO it's because of 2 things, first and foremost is values - those are hard to create with pens and getting good hatching is difficult and laborous. Good effort here though. Second is probably perspective/construction in general, being a bit tighter with it might help.

Anyway, goof stuff, good stuff. I'd like to see your progress in following months.
