Absolutely based. Thank you so much!
So, I went in trying to organize my artbook folder, only to found that I had apparently opened a zip straight into the organized folder section, cluttering it to hell and back. I want to put it into a folder, but I don't know what it's from, any help?

A tip for any Win10 users, you can convert the series of images into a pdf easily (for Memory Drawing book). Do the following:
1. Ctrl + A (select all images)
2. Right click > Print
3. Change the printer drop down to "Microsoft Print to PDF"
4. (optional) You might have to change orientation to portrait. To do this just go to options on the bottom right > printer properties
5. Print and enjoy your pdf!

Atomi Shuri. It's one of her uncensored vids
I'm sure as balls there are way better resources than this shit. But I don't know any that's not writen in moon. What can you recommend?
>>2770119
how to draw manga series
>>2770119
Seconding this. Japs have the best looking tutorials and tons of books. Unfortunately none of them seem to be translated. Does anyone know of any resources? I can go on Amazon.jp and find hundreds of awesome books on every art subject that look informative and fun and it's driving me insane. I'm not learning moon runes, fuck that.
>>2770119
Sketching manga style is better IMO. at least volume 1-5.
Just learn the fundamentals of drawing, learn art styles, reference real life (and photos), then learn stylization. Don't fucking skip to the alternate stylization
>>2770133
Anything but life and real photos. There has to be another way. This is the only part of art that makes me insanely bored and feel like quitting. If I start a picture that I like with a character and I need to draw something in the BG like an apple or part of the costume is difficult I don't mind learning, but this stuff bores the hell out of me. I've drawn my cats, lamps, my room, clocks, all kinds of things and I just don't seem to absorb it as fast as others. I do love making cool characters though. It only helps to draw real life junk as far as realistic rendering goes right?
Fuck, I guess there isn't another way.
I swear to god every time someone recommends a book on this board it's an old yellow'd one from many decades ago.. Is there just not anything good being made any more? Where is the knowledge going?
(Talking about composition)
>>2770129
Why not? Learning a new language helps keep your brain healthy and knowing multiple languages is a skill that pays. Maybe not Japanese but being bi-lingual is useful. It's not even hard once you get the hang of it.
>>2770139
The artist's guide to sketching by master Games Jurney
You don't copy reality. Sketching from life is way far from taking a picture. That's what it makes it enjoyable.
>>2770139
My professor always told me that while useful for learning how to draw what you see and capture proportions of whatever your drawing, the best life studies are the one that add or subtract from the actual subject, maybe a lamp you draw has extra nobs and switches on it than it actually has, or you really exaggerate a models hamstring and make it super muscular and more detailed than it actually is.
Sometimes the subject itself may be boring, sure; So make it fun.
Would anyone happen to have some tutorials or courses by cubebrush or ctrl+paint, or similar? Mostly looking for stuff about rendering
>>2770155
>tfw learning kraut and drop it for moon runes.
>>2770167
>Thomas Kinkade
Wait, what?
>>2770192
>Sometimes the subject itself may be boring, sure; So make it fun.
I really want to agree with you here, but isn't it better to aim for accuracy in your studies in order to absorb as much information as possible from the subject? You can always stylize right after the study.
>>2770216
I suppose it depends on your objective.
If you are doing like a master study or doing a live model session, and you are trying to accurately take information from those sources, then yes, I do think it's best to really draw as accurately as you can to the subject at hand.
>>2770211
He and James Gurney were roommates at Art Center if my memory serves correct. They also both worked on the backgrounds for that animated Frazetta movie Fire and Ice. Kinkade was apparently a pretty good artist before he realized he could paint garbage and sell it for a fortune.
>>2770129
As someone who can read a decent amount of moon runes, English art books are better than you think and Japanese ones not as good as you hope. They're good on detail and specific observation, not so hot on deep insight. This applies to basically everything that's published in Japan. No Japanese equivalent of Bridgman or Tim Ferriss or Tony Robins over there that I've come across. I gave my Japanese friend an English copy of Mastery by Robert Greene and it blew his fucking mind.
>>2770210
In many ways they're quite similar. Minus the moon runes.
You should study both.
>>2770245
Not them but I gave up trying to learn Japanese to learn art related things instead, and I think I made the right choice. Japanese just takes up too much brainpower every day to learn. I do regret that I can't read the things that come from over there though because I'm a huge weeaboo and I find that I enjoy Japanese media much more than the flickTV, CoD, whatever world the west lives in.
>>2770262
you can always pick up Japanese later again. I always find myself just pick up things in anime and games etc. and I go 'Oh I know what they are saying'. It keeps me somewhat refreshed on what I know.
But if art is more important to you than learning japanese, then you made the correct choice for yourself. Again you can always pick Japanese back up again, but after you make it mane.
>>2770199
Set the bar higher than someone that can't draw and has been stuck in a rut for the majority of his career.
What kind of videos would you like specifically, as theres no real secret to it. I think Marc mostly works on a locked background layer and adds a new layer as and when, theres a lot of people that use that as a process. So what kind of insight are you hoping to get from someone thats so creative that his first youtube video series was on drawing the male and female head.
>>2770314
Two things I would like to see in a digital rendering video is thought process on blend modes, when to use different blend modes and to what effect (an obvious example that I see used a lot is a layer set to multiply and filled with a dark purple for shadows). Basically something that spells out in depth what the pic to the left is illustrating.
Second I would find helpful is a video demonstration on the variety of ways of laying down brushwork, from working with colors directly (noodling and color sampling), to what can be achieved with just hard brushes versus using blending/smudge/erasing methods, how texture effects can be achieved, etc.

Yeah, I need a couple of hours a day when I'm studying to make progress. Been at it since 2008. I became very disillusioned when in Japan earlier this year and just wanted to draw instead, but Japanese is a bankable skill in my country so I started studying again last month. It's a lifelong journey really, just like art. Takes real commitment. But it's not really worth it just for the books.

>>2771484
I'm reading through keys to drawing, but I have a few hangups. It goes over everything from a traditional art sense. I don't understand the measuring thing when it comes to using google images on my wacom tablet, the pen type info and a lot of the information is useless to me since I don't really expect to draw from life unless it's life on my computer screen. Should I skip this book if I'm not looking to be a traditional artist? I've just been skimming through the later pages and having a hard time relating a lot of the information to my actual art as someone in 2016. Should I just skip this and read some loomis or drawabox since they are more for imagination and making your own composition from basic shapes rather than actually drawing from reference?

Jesus christ what the ever loving fuck
>>2774015
Yeah that nagged at me too, but honestly, it's sort of fitting for Raita style works, putting it in 3D just takes away the stylization and puts more emphasis on the anorexia side of things.
>>2774025
It's strange because his Valkyria works are nothing like this, save for like a couple of promotional features
I also have the Castle In The Sky "Roman" Book, essentially a bunch of stills from the movie and interviews from a few of the artists (untranslated), if anyone is interested pic related
>>2774035
well, now pic related.
>>2774035
Post it yo. And yeah, his Valkyria stuff is quite obviously toned down, but that's obviously because he's not going to go full on with official art. Selvaria is the closest thing in that series to a typical Raita girl.
Well that took longer than expected.
