Does anyone mind telling me all the things you can actually work at as a freelance digital artist? At the least, all the things you know.
This way, we can all compile the ideas we know and use them to get ahead.
Obvious examples being:
>trading card art
>video game art
>movie advertising
etc.
But the less obvious things we post the more interesting the thread gets!
You can just do what you want and get money for it because people enjoy what you do for yourself.

There's a great post about this on muddycolors. Google "So you want to be a book cover artist".

From this article:
>In reality, I don’t really know what I do. All I know is that I’ve made an effort to cast a broad net while keeping my work recognizably my own.
Interesting. That article says almost the opposite as another one I recently saw linked on /ic/, also from Muddycolors, by Greg Manches. There Manches says to think of your portfolio as using a sniper rifle instead of a shotgun and know exactly what you want to do and what clients you want to appeal to and to avoid casting a broad net.
I guess even when it comes to advice from seasoned professionals on how to land a job, it's just tools no rules.
