Post your current drawing here and be an asshole to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one and then kill yourself.

Let us begin
>>2757305
looks very cool
>>2757309
Why are her eyes so small?
>>2757309
looks dope!
>>2757305
Gonna repost this. Also per your critique, its supposed to be a fully illustrated comic book page. Not sure i agree that conplexity detracts from it. Its actually kinda what im going for.
>>2757321
Great luck you then, desu I like your pic a lot :3
>>2757305
whjy have darker lines further away?
Please, how does this look so far?
>>2757331
Dunno, I just like the way it looks in my sketchbook
>>2757350
Check her facial proportions and direction of her sight
>>2757321
>socks
>>2757321
like your style overall etc, but anatomy on this one is really bad.
abdomen, right leg, proportions are just off.
>>2757377
and other pics: really stop being so edgy, it's cringey. It really looks like you're 14.
Otherwise, try to improve anatomy and let "muh style" get a backseat for awhile.
>>2757309
If you redo it with good construction, it will be pretty awesome.
>>2757350
/beg/
>>2757384
IMO it's all good about his piece, elongated legs and some proportions being off serve this dreamy piece.
But yeah, I would rather work on volume of right leg and joint in knee, this is a part that is too flat. Same goes for some pieces of machinery
Other than that I'm looking towards finished piece.
>>2757384
So much judging. Do you even draw?
>>2757396
yes, I post some stuff.
the use of posting here is to get honest and useful critique.
if you feel something is unfair, unwarranted or you don't get something in my critique, feel free to point it out so that I can explain it further.
this is a character i'm working on for my doom clone indie game. please tell me what you think.
>>2757408
Better than 0% of /ic/
>>2757384
I just like to keep my sketches fast and rough. And ya, anatomy is a huge problem of mine
>>2757431
Kek "huge problem". Your stuff is pretty good anon
Just gonna leave this here
>>2757397
>useful critique
>stop being so edgy, it's cringey
that's not critique that's just your worthless opinion, subject matter isn't fucking important here we're here to critique fundies and actual errors, the people can draw whatever they want
>>2757459
except it does kiddo.
just go see any pro with a portfolio containing such things (even if it was magnificently done) and they would tell you this.
A company would just skip your stuff for someone decent.
>>2757377
Thanks anon, that helped me see the mistakes. Hopefully it is fixed now. I like your drawings btw.
>>2757384
Give me a fair critique and I will be happy to go over there.
>>2757463
>(even if it was magnificently done)
but that's wrong, there's pros out there who have way worse shit than a bunch of edgy drawings out there , not to mention theres whole industries geared towards that shit "kiddo".
>>2757616
>there's pros out there who have way worse shit than a bunch of edgy drawings out there
sure, but these pros usually do that as personal projects, not for their work.
usually, even if you work for something super edgy, say Doom, you won't draw beheadings and such; they'll want you draw creatures and behead them ingame.
Could you find me one example of pro who puts edgy shit in his portfolio?
>>2757542
the general idea is that to graduate from /beg/ you should be able to construct the skull under the face that you draw.
Proportions are still way off. It's basically symbol drawing. Just look at how the eyebrow is painted on the supraorbital ridge.
Same thing for the skeleton. The shoulder should be a volume, not a uniform flat color.
You did a fairly good job at figuring out where the light should hit, however part of the face is in shade, yet the hair behind isn't.
Values are pretty ok. Colours are quite unappealing though.
Don't take it badly, the idea is to have you work on fundies so that you get better, that's all.
>>2757644
So you're making assumptions about what they intend to do with their work? The other anon is right unless the subject matter is something the global rules say can't be posted here you should either only talk about how they can improve conveying what they want to convey or stick to critiquing only the visual aspects. Then again from the fact you're trying to force your idea of acceptable subject matter and trying to put yourself above people using "kiddo" you probably shouldn't be critiquing anything anyway.
>>2757715
Why are you triggered so much by that simple comment seriously? Even the OP didn't care.
Also, I didn't make such assumptions and such, I just provided context on why and when it matters.
>>2757731
Using buzzwords now I see. I guess you're assuming I was the first anon to call you out on this but I'm not, I've only replied to you that one time, not nearly enough to denote that I'm "triggered". But this place already fosters way more blowing of hot air than sharing of valuable information and I'd like to see that reversed. Besides if it wasn't for the fact that you put on that egotistical air and started calling people kiddo I wouldn't have cared enough to leave even that first comment. You're not the only one around here who can play quality control manager.
>>2757759
holy fuck man. then why are you arguing over this? just move along, like OP did.
I called that guy kiddo because he was insulting in the first place.
anyway, I won't answer more about this, this is spoiling the thread more than enough.
>>2757542
Her eyes arent converging onto the moth and she looks really spaced out. Watch the orientation of the ellipses you've drawn. Their minor axii should converge onto the moth like pic related.
need some feedback. is this workin?
>>2757927
Photobashing really isn't going to make up for your lack of fundamental knowledge. If anything it shows more because of it. So no, it's not working.
>>2757934
how many cocks did u take up the ass today anon?
>>2757934
how can I make it work?
>>2757941
By learning to actually draw. Photobashing only makes for a good shortcut to adding texture when you understand how light and shadow falls across a surface and how that creates the look of a texture. This creature lacks volume and form and a lot of subtle forms and twists in its gesture that would give it more believable weight and visual balance as well as make it more aesthetically pleasing in both its design and execution. It would be much better if you'd do drawings of the objects and materials you want to use, gain an understanding of them, and then put them together.
>>2757948
>This creature lacks volume and form and a lot of subtle forms and twists in its gesture
thanks 4 the help mang.

I'm not really sure what kind of crit I'd like... any ideas for things to add/ make it more interesting?. I'm probably gonna add lava and stuff coming out from around the bones
>>2758143
take the ram horn out. it looks weird. the deterioration does not match the other bones. besides that. it looks like shit.
>>2758150
thanks man
working on this. trying to come up with some new rules to play around with. i think the quadrants with different textures thing could make some good pieces but i need more quadrants...
im thinking currently something like 12 different sections in a piece, 2 being the light, 2 being the dark, and 8 being mid tones.
>>2758171
wow this is incredible brian.
>>2758171
how long do these take you? amazing.
Drew this in a pizzaplace at work (hanging out with a retarded guy) today. Like 40 minutes.
>>2758034
you are a fag and ruin guy's skill
there's no such thing like "style" untill you git gud
>>2758203
i'm sorry
>>2758184
I see you refer to yourself in third person, very odd.
>>2758203
Why are you such a frustrated person?
>>2758184
yea you're definitely mentally ill. what were you diagnosed with?
>>2758217
good for u.
>>2758210
I know /ic/ isn't known for always giving the best critique but I'm getting tired of people rejecting everything outright even when it's the truth. If you literally can't convey proper information with your drawing, you can't convey a stylized version. It won't look "right", it just won't. You have to build up a certain level of skill to make informed stylistic and design decisions and to make it LOOK like those choices are intentional. That's the way it is and that's what "no shortcuts in art" means.
>>2758217
looks stiff. like he's got something stuck up his ass. or like he's letting out some hot fumes form his rear.
no sketchbook thread, but I wanted to post this
>>2758235
That's pretty damn cool, anon. Got a blog? I like the sketchy form and the composition is really good. No idea how someone would draw like this, maybe just for fun, I guess.
Man, to be a preteen again.
>>2758251
wow ur a cutie. we could def be friends.
>>2758274
brian I don't care what they say about you. I would literally eat your shit.
>>2758286
you should smell my farts sometimes. i think they smell great.
Oh shit, we're not doing edgy anymore?
>>2758302
edgy is the most welcome here.
[eldritch gazelle noises]
so is this cool, or nah
>>2758401
It is pretty hot I'd say. And a bit more seriously - I like it quite a lot.
>>2757927

>>2757644
>say Doom, you won't draw beheadings and such; they'll want you draw creatures and behead them ingame.
what the fuck are you even talking about, doom has sprites of them being beheaded and fucking ripped apart and someone has to draw them.
if you want to see edgy pro work just google metal covers or horror related shit it's really not hard, theres an obviously an audience for it
picked it up again
>>2758372
Thats cool!
>>2758372
I'm retarded, explain to me what i'm looking at.
Pen drawing I did at a life-drawing class last week. 1 model, 4 poses. There's a few obvious things to improve on, however it was a fast-paced session and I'm using pen, so I can't redraw lines etc

Tips? /beg/? Need tips from people actually good and honest.
I almost died today. here's what I would not have posted if I had began my day a second later.
>>2758976
so you imagined a baby elephant in a diaper? you're not worth my time bitch
>>2758979
Ehm, no. I work for friends sometimes (girls likes baby elephants). Edgelord. I though you were a cool dude. Just wanted to know how to get better at doing what I like. Man.
>>2758973
nothing? one more to catch your attention! Westworld also.
>>2758979
At least you're being honest. Still, fuck you for being rude with no need for it.
>>2758989
thats actually interesting. far better than the pink elephant if you are te same guy. Id keep to traditional mediums, but i kinda hate on digital paintings so
working on this
>>2758997
Oh, there. Thank you. Midtones and then lots of shitpolishing since I've literally started digital three months ago. Still being hugely ignorant on the basics. (besides Leonard from UA and this one, I have only one more drawing since then) And being 26 doesn't help either. But it's good to hear opinions from somebody knowing what he is talking about. Cheers, if you've got more I'll be pleased.
>>2758991
Thank you, but believe me. I have NOT one drawing that I even remotely like. Me to blame since I never really explored "full time" drawing. I like your pen work, but I'll not even attempt to make a critique, since I believe myself sincerely not being good enough to do so mate.
Still working on my character concepts for this cartoon idea.
>>2759008
Looked at some older Disney movies for more inspiration, just playing around with detail and simplification.
>>2759008
pretty cute, though the wolf/fox guy looks really feminine in the bottom and the sweater guy looks less dynamic in the bottom. nice and simple designs though, I want to see them in motion someday
>>2758922
Fuck dude, I love your stuff. What is your background? Self-taught or you went to an art school?
>>2758551
Pretty nice. I think you can just fix up some small proportional errors in the head, and then after that all you need to do is clean up the brushstrokes and edges to bring it to a final.
Maybe push the values a bit more so the forms and local colours read better, like make sure that the body and shoulders are lit the same way the head is, and that things like the white collar feel actually white.
>>2758999
Lovely. Teach me your ways I can't do environments for shit.
>>2759047
You too. Teach me your ways I can't color for shit.
>>2758935

>>2759047
The dark accent under the chin is a bit jarring (as if you just finished phase one of your block-in and laid your first brush stroke on phase two) but that's a very solid block in. Atta boy!
>>2758710
If this is brian congrats on making something really good for once
>>2759058
Studies, studies, studies.
On both.
>>2759082
Any recommendations on where to look for good enviro pics?
>>2758401
Does this look super dark to anyone else? On the original file, the darkest dark is around 90% value, and nothing is quite as saturated as it looks when i saved as jpeg. Does anyone else have this problem? My monitor is fairly nice, i guess its brightness isnt calibrated right
>>2759086
Different anon here, but just google it. Not hold back because youre looking for 'good enviro pics'.
Google "canyon", and youll get more than enough to learn the landmarks of a canyon
>>2758401
it's missing a lot of rim lighting . there is a lot of areas that need to be more exposed to the might.
>>2759110
Okay I guess I can try that. I'll try to think of some interesting places too and not go for stereotypical plains and hills or something.
>>2759116
First anon here, I got a lot of refs for environments saved, uploading it onto my dropbox now.
There's a lot of different stuff in there, so you won't stay in your comfort zone when studying.
I'll post the link when it's done uploading.
>>2759125
Nice, thank you! That's exactly what I was worried about. I never really look at environments and I was pretty sure there'd be a million things I would never think to look for pictures of.

she's done.
>>2759074
I'm not Brian lol, this is the first time I've posted work on here. What stuff does Brian draw?
>>2759382
That's pretty damn cool. What were your inspirations?
>>2759405
he has an amazing impressionistic style. his approach is beyond majestic.
>>2758127
I think it looks good, not the best, but good
>>2759382
looks cool, but the creature is kinda funky. the appendages seem to attach to the body with not much rhyme or reason. how does a creature that big live off tiny birds? why does it have tiny teeth if it seems to be vacuuming its food straight in? how does it fly?
nice clouds though.
>>2759406
I like the mood coming off a lot of the this shit. it really got me going.
>>2759418
kek I had the same thought.
>it lives of birds.
idk maybe it just devours landmass and nature itself. it's kinda like a virus creature. it's mouth is a massive vacuum lol
>>2759408
Forgive my autism but I had a feeling that you think I'm Brian trying to milk compliments, so you returned with exaggerated apraisal about him sarcastically.
I've just never really see any kind words about other anons on 4chan that often
If you have any of his stuff to hand or a link to somewhere that'd be great, seems like his work is up my street :)
Pic is another doodle with marker pen. I normally paint with oil and acrylic with a cubist/connstructivist/abstract methodology so it transfers into my drawings and doodles quite contagiously!
>>2759406
this too almost forgot.
Mother Seated I
by Chunbum Park
Help me make sense of this
What's the worst thing here?
>>2759441
saw it on Instagram, from a fantasy page, forget the name. then I searched the artist. it's got a pretty toxic or poisonous look. after I looked up his name I realized he's pretty well known guy I guess, his stuff is nice.
>>2759442
Well, for one, the sky and ground are split in an even 50/50 composition.
Also the clouds on the left caught my attention first because they have this weird blur to it that makes me wonder what it means. After that I noticed the building in the middle of nowhere, then the mountain behind it.
Then I don't know what else to look at. If you wanted to convey the feeling of emptiness, you did it quite well. The sky is so large it feels like it takes forever to look down. The ground is so large, it feels like it is actually a huge distance even though it may just be a few hundred meters really.
The colors are also interesting, remind me of a certain painter that I can't remember the name of. It's like you wanted to emphasize a certain palette, but I don't know much about color, so I can't tell the intent.
>>2759445
The worst thing here is that I'm not really sure what you're asking of me.
>>2759449
I want to know what's most important for me to work on in my figure, and I need to know my greatest weakness.
>>2759453
>"my greatest weakness"
At this skill level, that would basically be absolutely every motherfucking thing.
In this particular picture though, the most blatantly shitty stuff are anatomy and foreshortening, so go study those and some basic perspective while at that.
>>2759438
At least you're not making your own threads now, GJ. Work on construction.
Anyone else have trouble focussing? Any tips/tricks that you use to make the most of your time?

I just get stoned and put one of these on; http://billburr.com/podcast-2/ and then i can go for hours. I also realy like your drawing, id consider leaving it at that stage. Mb cover some more of the station walls.
Can i get some honest critique here...?
>>2758991

>>2758969 im that guy. Log Lady for you, too
>>2759517
Thanks! Unfortunately im dry atm or i would definitely take your advice. I tend to start things really stoned and then grind them out sober. Still a lot of work to be done.
I dont think this is one of your stronger pieces. I like the very graphic comp but your hatching is very rushed! It doesnt match well with the clean bold lines framing it. If it were me, i would consider it a sketch and do it again, maybe twice to really vet out and carefully place those thinner lines.
>>2757297
Is there any color beside orange, red and yellow that would go well with fire?
>>2759591
There's a concept in color theory called "gamut masking", or the "teardrop mask over the color wheel": basically, taking any color in the teardrop will go well.
>>2759597
Can you elaborate further? what do you mean in the Teardrop?
>>2759445
I hate to say it man, but the other anon is right. You're biting off more than you can chew because you don't have a good enough understanding the fundies. I know how it is though, I learned a lot from powering through pictures that may have been a bit broken from the start, I would suggest not worrying about making a real illustration and just practice basics a whole lot, but if you feel you're learn something from trying to work out the problems with this then do that as well. I'd do a redline but I'm away from my tablet for a couple days, maybe when I get back home in another few days I'll do it.
>>2759599
I don't like this guy too much, but this video explains it pretty well (sorry, no time to make a write up).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kQllLy_X4I

>>2759427
I dont' give two shits about this kind of art, but I that said, I find this appealing. Keep in mind my opinion holds 0 weight.
>>2759604
Man, I don't have Photoshop so the tear drop is out of the question but I understand the combination of color, not only on the object but also the background
>>2759606
huh, this has nothing to do with photoshop, noobie.
What are you using?
In mypaint, there's a native gamut masking feature.
In anything else, you can add 10% size on the canvas to deal with the palette (or simply another layer).
Just add on that layer or part of the canvas an image of a colorwheel and put a teardrop mask over it. Then you just color pick the chroma/saturation and modify the value with a slider or any way your software allow you.
>>2759609
I'm using Sai and I will try that method then
>>2759612
Great!
I called you noobie because you're still in the mindset that "i'm not using X so I can't do Y"
In most situation, you can, you just need to think "what am I trying to achieve', and "how can I do it with standard tools".
It might end up to be a kludgy solution, but it'll still be a solution.
So if you're in a similar situation in the future, ask rather "how can I do that in X?" or similar, alright?
>>2759615
Right, like: How to I add text to Paint Tool Sai
>>2759617
Ok, I'm spending time to help, and you try to troll, this is testing my patience.
First, we're talking about achieving a painting thing. I did not answer a question like "how to add a 3D model" or anything that is not painting, that you couldn't to in a standard PAINTING program.
Second, even if there are no text tools there still are solution:
- import text as .png
- write it by hand
Get a brain.
>>2759620
Wow, wow, man. I'm just joking, I really appreciate your effort in helping me with working around my weakness. I understand the painting things and just want to lighten up the mood.
>>2759500

>>2759626
okay, no problem.
but as you can see even then you can still make your way around it.
>>2759629
Alright, man
>>2759368

>>2759382
Overpaint the mountain, or add textures to the creature. You put highlights on the body of the creature, when it's better to put them on it's mouth, teeth/saliva, tendrils. You make it look like body's more important.
>>2759442
Look at your art in bw. Compare it to good enviro art in bw.
>>2759445
I'm a n00b so take my critique with grain of salt, but this is what I see:
Main issue is with pose itself, it seems to me that you haven't decided what your figure wants to do so you tried to do couple of things at the same time. So guessing:
1. If you wanted a guy to stand firmly, look at the left and shoot down executor style:
- Left hand is pushed too much backwards. It's a result of shoulders not really aligning and issues with joints.
Try drawing a plane through both shoulderblades. Arm of a guy shouldn't cross with that plane IMO.
- Gun doesn't point in a guys cone of vision. Remember that it's around 60 degrees, so either push hand more to the front (there will be quite serious foreshortening here) or make his neck and head turn more into the direction of a shoot
- It would look better if the hand wouldn't be so straight, but a bit bend in the elbow.
- Feet, try drawing them first and not last. Drawn properly to the ground plane they help you with orienting your pose and figure properly.
2. In case a guy is turning to shoot someone behind him and to the left:
- There should be twist at hips and in upper body in shoulder area, when one goes to the back the other is pushed to the front.
- Legs wouldn't be so stiff, but bend at knees a bit and right more inclined, most of the weight would be supported by the left leg.
Ending thoughts: Look at krenz tutorials and boxing your figures. Thanks to that you can keep proportions and proper perspective easier.
Trying to render figure at the top is good effort/habit, although it's shit now with unrealistic shadows etc. at least gives you a sense of completion to the drawing and will help you get better.
I see lots of good stuff here and hard work. Keep going, there's a lot of stuff there that might be a bit overwhelming, so try to work from the most abstracted way to the most detailed.
Some good initial sketch of a gesture helps, wouldn't make your pose so stiff. Then go construction.

Aaaand done.

You are correct, anon.
>>2759447
Thank you kindly
>>2759644
You are right, eyes are fucked. I usually dont do humans, so it was kinda practice-thing. but i think the rest is quite faithful to the original ( i did draw with a reference..) Gimme something on my moose, please!
>>2759671
it's mgc, recognized you from the clouds :D
I think bright edge between the boat and water makes it look like they're disconnected, I'd assume it will be the darkest spot from the occlusion. It's especially strong on the first pink boat on the right.
>>2759673
Sorry, too abstract. Not my thing.
>>2759677
Hey mgc, yeah I wanted to ask what gave me away haha. I somehow knew it was the clouds.
Hm, you are right. I think I tunred blind on this detail. And I thought that since that's where the boat hits the water there would be tension in the waves that reflect more of the surroundings (sky etc.). But in the end it seems it was just a stupid stylistic choice. Anyway, thanks (y)
is this in the right direction, what should I do to improve comp, etc?
>>2759729
remove the dick in the middle
>>2759729
>what should I do to improve comp
Do a dozen master studies.
>>2759644
thanks broi nice crits
>>2759740
any master studies you recommend to help?
should I give up?
>>2759602
That'd be extremely helpful.
Thanks for the advice.
>>2759864
Just pick art you like. Do value studies not more than 1hr(10-20pieces), do a bunch of value thumbnail studies not more than 10-15mins each(100-200pieces)
By then you'll get a lot better at composition and value. And that's the cornerstones of good environment painting.
After that you can do a couple of long 10hr+ master studies. Just to learn how to finish things properly.
went with C, apparently B looks like the minotaur is rapping and cant unsee now
>>2759054
thanks man, its always that last step i struggle with. it looks so much better

Realism IV rephotographed

Started rendering a bit. Does it look alright or did I fuck up somewhere?
alien thing
>>2759971

need to fix lighting/shadows on her. the light source is behind her. how is the sheen on the dagger that bright if it's behind the figure, which the light source is not directly hitting. just think more about the relationship of the light source and figure.
>>2759971
also her knee is too low, legs a bit long.
>>2759971
You have no idea about your light source. Define it properly then you can render accordingly. Right now your values are shit because of it.
when I started doing this there was more value, and I then blended and then did the hair and when I went back there was way less value than I remember. wtf
was it because it was morning, or dark in the room? did my eyes fuck with me? Idk fampai
please mess my stuff up family
>>2760014
It's not that bad but not that great either. Facial proportions and features ( especially the lips and eyes ) are wrong and her hairs are not hairs. I'm afraid your general lack of anatomy knowledge is showing. But keep working anon, you're on the right path I believe.
>>2759642
I thought the bigger picture was made up of the small muscular details.
I'm mainly making a quick, mental cylinder, and then I'm conforming the muscles to it in perspective.
Also, I didn't construct the left arm.
I thought I would get away with it, but I guess not.
I don't know why I do this.
>>2759647
Thanks.
I have a really bad habit of knowing how to gestures and distribute weight in a figure, but I get right into the form and drawing the main masses in perspective/setting up proportion.
This is why everything is incredibly stiff.
>>2758184
Autism?
Does drawing boxes in perspective ever get incredibly easy to the point where you don't have to think about it?
There are certain things (tilted, rotated boxes) that can sometimes give me difficulty and force me to really think about what I'm doing for a minute. Does this ever go away completely? If I'm still having the occasional bit of trouble, does it mean I need to grind it to mastery, or does it never go away?
>>2760093
yeeup. eventually you just "know" right form wrong and wing it.
>>2760083
ref?
>>2760112
>>2759961
the earth tone you are using seems a tad too chromatic so all the shadows seem more like mid tones. gotta push darks better, and a different palette might help you do that.
anyways should i add hands to this or move onto something new? i was thinking a hand holding a sword the same light blue as the cloak and chainmail.
>>2760083
>>2760117
I'm not sure exactly what your intentions were with the study, but you sort of "whitified" her. The eyes in the ref are a fair bit smaller, the chin and jaw are wider, the eyebrows are wispy and thin instead of thicker and in a worried expression etc. I think you are not observing closely enough in the study, and you are also being lazy in some sections. The shawl over her shoulder has a simple pattern that you didn't even try to get in, the brushwork in general can be improved, you are missing the general angles and shapes of things and so on.
is the eye ball a good concept or naw?
>>2760130
I think it's making a very realistic design very cartoonish.
It depends on what you're trying to achieve.
You could probably hit a middle ground/compromise by making it more realistic.
>>2760136
>very cartoonish
what I needed to hear. thank u anon.
>>2760130
Also, I don't know if I can get behind the very triangular shape on a very natural form, and the lighting on the mouth looks weird and inconsistent.
>>2760126
Thanks anon. I'm not done with it yet and I have noted your remarks.

>>2757542
Hi, I'm from /beg/ and I just popped in and saw this. I've made my first redline with a mouse and mspaint to show you why you need to come back with me.
>>2760466
Your redlines are slightly off perspective. back to /beg/.
i really want to develop a painter-ly style, so I guess doing still lives is important, this took me a while, I was playing with hues and temperature a lot, it was hard eyeing the colours in real life versus a photo.
>>2760130
get rid of the pussy in the middle. Look up closeups of crabs or insects... chewing gear, i would implement something like that here. Eye cannot exist in that form, its completly cut out.
>>2760014
besides the fact that you really need to learn anatomy and perspective of the face, i think you would really benefit from blending your lines and not having desaturated shadows. I honestly just adjusted the eyeline and blended what you had already drawn with the smudge tool using a scatter brush. I also took the sponge tool, set it to 'saturate' and went around the grey areas. it makes it look much less muddy
one thing i do like are your shadows, even if they are grey like i said before
>>2760741
Wow okay thank you. That is really helpful, I really dont know what I am doing so I appreciate it.
Just bought a drawing app for my phone, did this in about 20 min.

>>2757377
Since this has been happening to me a lot (I'm nowhere near your level) I just want to note that perhaps study bigger hand shapes, as you've given Hitler dainty woman's hands and arms.

>>2760913
>I-I only spent 20 minutes on it!
>>2761039
I pointed it out because I've been trying to improve my speed, it'd be a point of reference for someone more experienced than me to tell me I took too long for so little work.
I don't think time spent on a sketch or a completed piece is completely irrelevant.

>>2761098
the "brian isn't learning how to draw properly" meme is one of my favorites. i drew this in 2014. i haven't improved?
>>2761108
for almost 3 years, it's barely any improvement. You don't take critique so you don't know what to hit, so you keep slightly correcting the wrong things and creating more problems for yourself over time.
>>2761108
dude this is better
mb stick with ink

>>2761108
>the "brian isn't learning how to draw properly" meme
Holy shit, only you would think that when people give you critique it's a meme.
>>2761108
>guaranteed (you)s
>>2761139
its a fuckton of improvement in all the right categories. traditional isnt like digital where you can learn it all in one year then just make slight adjustments to a style for the rest of your life.
>>2761145
if you'd been here when i posted any of my drawings from 2014 you'd know how bullshit that is. you guys take any opportunity you can to shit down my throat about new work and claim the stuff you used to hate was good all along.
im better. fuck off. crit my current work my old work isn't noteworthy enough to even discuss.
>>2761154
a guy said "you haven't improved" and "you make meme art" where's this beautiful instructive critique that i seem to have missed? ive been doing this for five years and i haven't improved?
its much more likely i was always good and got better than i have always been bad and got worse
>>2761163
I know for a fact that I wasted time giving you detailed crits before and you shrugged them off with something about style or traditional art.
>>2761166
So have I anon and many others. It's best to disregard him completely. It does nothing but ruin the thread every time.
>>2761176
>i don't get actual crits anymore
You do, but probably you get fewer than before because people realize how hostile you are and see you don't listen to advice you do get, so there's no point in trying to help you.
>>2759382
Did you just slap in unedited photo's as your background? You need to integrate them more, do a paint over. It looks completely detached from the monster right now.
>>2761080
im not sure if thats how faces work! most of all, the eye...
>>2761188
wait wait wait... so you... the guy that drew that shitty elephant and lion were one of the people giving me crits? and im supposed to feel bad that i wont get your opinion anymore?
>>2761103
knee areas on both legs, get reference
>>2758401
This is supposed to be a huge canyon, I think, but the saturated, dark values and cramped composition make it look like the inside of a cave. Add more erosion and small details at the river as a contrast.
>>2758401
>>2761397
if this is the case, I'd make the rocks a wee bit shorter and add more sky- maybe add a figure, animal or plant for scale so you can see the immensity of the [[orb]]
>>2761500
oh I almost forgot, aerial perspective, blur/blue the background out senpai
>>2761194
I wanted to keep it photo realistic. yeah I just slappered her in like no fuks given

is it oversaturated?
>>2761779
yeah, but dont just move the "Saturation" slider down and call it done.
im working on making my faces look more human and realistic, think i went a bit off reference here but i think i kinda like it otherwise
>>2759864
stop manually changeing opacity...
>>2761814
what do you mean?
I haven't changed opacity at all, in fact I've used a single brush for everything.
>>2761754
not that anon, but most speed painting videos are usually time lapse videos.
>>2761816
doesnt matter, you are painting like an absolute beginner who has no idea how to lay down a brush stroke. opacity has to be set to pen pressure if youre going to use it. you can still change it through the keybinds 1,2,3 - 0 on the keyboard but atleast have pen pressure on opacity. a brush with a specific opacity value is just bad.
also if you cant make an opaque stroke with opacity on just have another brush set to flow only. specific tablets have terrible pen pressure set ups.
>>2761825
I fail to see the exact relation between the brushstrokes, opacity and dealing with it on a pressure setting.
Could you refer me to some specific link to a process you think is better and/or a write up of the thing you think I should know in that regard?
Strawberry Icecream revised
>>2761833
You should have made it actually good this time cumbum
>>2761837
What can be improved? Should I add another layer of braided hair?
It looks good in person. 4chan reduces the color drastically so you see a much lesser version of what it actually is
>>2761842
>What can be improved? Should I add another layer of braided hair?
are you challenging Brian at /ic/'s very own autism olympics?
>>2761828
if you honestly dont know what pen pressure means then im not wasting anymore of my time
>>2761855
what I mean is that I don't understand how setting opacity to pen pressure will help me per se, could you explain how I should approach the painting process?
Your example suggest to barely use non-opaque brushstrokes, are there references you'd suggest me to learn?
sorry if I didn't make myself clear.
todays wip. Feedback please

Which color background do you think looks best?
Thanks in advance!

>>2762265
>being this retarded
Still don't know what I'm doing, but I think I'm getting better
>>2761930
This is really cool. I'd like to see it polished up. You could digitally paint right over that scan.
>>2762271
Not that person (I'm the artist), but what's dumb about that?
There are definitely ways to make the concept stronger beyond the basic play on the words "Fire Fighter", and those are great questions to ask.
How should I crop it?
>>2762287
yeah idk. people get defensive. if you're interested i'd like to talk to you, i think that piece is very similar to things i've written in the past. would you want to do a quick talk over email and discuss some stuff?
pic related is something i made that's kinda similar to yours. im interested in if your writing process is similar to mine, or if you have one, and what your other illustrations look like

I want to turn this sketch into a painting. Any suggestions?
What do you think? Be honest.

I'm not sure if this is a joke or not because this is amazing. I'm going to save it as a background or something. It inspires me to want to draw and get just as good.

Practicing women.
>>2762574
Damn, so good. What was your learning path to get to this skill level, anon?
>>2762576
Wow thank you, I guess that means the practice is paying off. I've been through a lot of learning tools, I should probably be past where I am now considering I'm getting to be middle aged. Basically I started with how to draw books as a kid, got into life drawing and drawing 101 once I hit college, and after getting my fine art AA I just kept learning from whatever I could. Tutorials, studies, the usual.
I'm doing a Lino Print for a Illustration project, while I hate the lino print stuff I got the freedom to create a creature for the print.
Any tips, I'm aware that I'm gonna have to hand print the small details as it's only gonna capture the large lines. Also to note, I'm cutting the black out not the grey.
>>2762428
well proportions are a little bit off, could blame it on the whole chinese cartoon thing tho
