I'm just starting with aspirations of animation, been about 6 months of decent practice time. My practice just consists of breaking things down to shapes and simple comparative copying (see attached). Lately I've just been getting so damn angry when I sit down in front of the paper and pencil, is this common for beginners in this craft? I've never experienced anything like this before in anything else I've tried.

Why are you angery?
I guess it's because I'm not really sure what I'm doing, or what's the next step.

drawing can be a form of meditation. sometimes this triggers anxieties and trauma.
as a child in elementary shool i was loved by my fellows for my paintings. later when somebody critizied my paintings it made me feel iam not accepted anymore. so when paintings dont progress it can trigger alot of stuff thats going on in your soul.

What do you mean you are breaking things down to simple shapes? Your picture looks pretty flat.
Are you using simple 3d egg forms to build from?

Shapes can exist in two dimensions you pile of autistic dog semen.

Follow this guy path to not make it
don't make things to mind numbingly repetitive
once you got the ability to reproduce okay'ishly things then you should start construction and real practice
6 months should be enough
