Explain why there is such strong dislike for the MSComicSans font. It looks good to me,two strenths of boldness, and it remains legible even when shrunk small. What font should one use instead?

Okay...did a little research and the world hates Comic Sans. Who knew?
Anyway, what font is being used in this MegaTokyo strip? Is it "acceptable" or what should I be using instead?

I think it's one of those things where it just got overused hardcore so it became a bit of a meme to hate it. Depending when you went to school you may have seen it used on handouts and assignments from teachers, used on restaurant menus, signs, professional websites etc. Basically a ton of places where it was totally the wrong font to be using, but people felt it was "fun" so used it anyways. Over exposure to it really took away from its appeal, and then it being used in lieu of more appropriate fonts especially for serious things or professionals things makes it really hated. I still associate it with clueless teachers and soccer moms organizing bake sales.
It's just a meme. Hating comic sans means you know what a typeface is and can pretend you're a designer when you don't really know anything about typography. It's just like hating Papyrus or to a lesser extend Trajan; or how post-modernists hate Helvetica because it's ubiquitous but they can't make anything better to replace it.
Use whatever you want, just put some effort to try to make your work look good.
It works well for what I use it for...but is the font in that MegaTokyo strip ComicSans too? I'd switch fonts to something equally as useful,if it means less crowds of torches and pitchforks at my door.
