Are the illustration and comic book industries too oversaturated to find a position?
>>
>>2726771
Yep. The amount of young budding artists is insane while the actual demand for media hasn't changed all that much.

Best you can do is to go independent and hope you find an audience, but honestly I'd say that the amount of patreons and e-begging is starting to exhaust audiences too.
>>
>>2726771

yes so please just quit
>>
It's something you'd wanna pursue in your spare time as a hobby rather than as a job.

Unless you get extremely lucky it's a dead end career choice.
>>
>>2726771
The number of competing artists increases proportional to developed nation population, however demand for media increases less quickly as that large population is content to simply read the same number of best few bits of media as the smaller population as regardless of population size the amount of media consumption time available to the individual stays stagnant.

In short it's harder to gain success but success brings greater rewards.

As an aside, how do people even go about getting work published?
>>
>>2726771
Yes, and it's only going to get worse in future.
>>
>>2726801
Phone a publisher or use whatevers on their website to submit your comic for review.

Just gotta communicate, bruv. And be good at what you do.
>>
>>2726771
Industries yes, in general no. The amount of people willing to sit down and read a comic book is huge, and these people will be following multiple comic books at a time. In that sense saturation is impossible but you have to find your audience.

The amount of young budding artists is insane, but the vast majority of them are mediocre at best and unemployably bad at worst. Meanwhile the demand for GOOD comic book artists is higher than ever before. Even Marvel and DC have to hire lots of very mediocre artists these days because all the good ones are completely booked out on deadlines working on a handful of flagship titles.

I'm hoping this is the case.

>>2727195

I think people got tired of Patreon about a year ago. To be honest though, even myself 2 years ago would see a Patreon link and sigh.

Lots of people are still making a killing though.

As the saying goes, there's always room for one more good one, no matter the field. getting good is the issue. like >>2727119 says, go to /co/ and read a few story times, there's major DC and Marvel books that have such trash art, just plain bad. Those bad artists have jobs though cause they couldn't find better artists.

So no, the world will never not need good artists.
>>
Lol you're not competing with anyone who is worse than you, so if you make an effort to get better and better, and you'll be competing with less and less people.

If you're shit at art you're not even in the fucking competition yet. You should be training.
>>
>>2727412

Damn, did a Japanese person kill your family or something? Christ, getting this triggered over non-English speaking people using patreon. You get triggered if they use Google too? It's not like any patrons they might get would've been yours to begin with lmao.

Not to mention that Patreon is making things even worse for them, makes sense because if you're good and have a fanbase, why not be youre own boss
