one would assume dynamic lines would result in a dynamic pose but i was looking at steven universe official artwork and notice how although the lines are very straight, the drawings always look full life and personality. how do they achieve this when the character design is so blocky and the lines so rigid?
here is for comparison
It's just the style Rebecca Sugar created.

you're cancer
generally in order to make a pose interesting artists resort to extreme foreshortening, multiple lines to convey the gesture, and very curve line art. the SU artwork does the complete opposite yet still feels natural

i'm only guessing, but maybe it's just Sugar's art style, and concept art. maybe it's just because it gets sort of translated over that way due to animation stuff.. or something like that.
either that or they specifically asked the animators/storyboard to use that blocky style.
again, just guessing, take it with a grain of salt
