Where can I buy an animation desk like this? I've tried looking online and it seems like all the companies that used to make them are now out of business.

Ikea.
>>
build it yaself buddeh, or hire a carpenter
>>
>>2679977
Lol why you want one faget? You cant animate
>>
>>2679977
The art suppliers for students who want to learn animation. But it will be probably shit. There are basically 2-3 shops in the EU and USA who still sell materials if we go by internet shops.

Everyone else is out of business for a reason, because all the contracts (including replacement parts and repairs) are long up.

And these things weren't mass produced either.
>>
I got really lucky and got my drafting table at a goodwill for 30 bucks, had to replace a few screws but it's pretty good.
>>
>>2679977
it depends a lot on where you are from.
I got mine from harassing my locale animation school, but if I hadn't I would probably tried and make a deal with this guy:

I have animation table and can't animate but table like this is awesome for inking
>>
>>2682585
But you cant ink either.

They were always specialty products, I'm afraid. Built by hand and custom made for studios.

And now studios either work in 3D or digitally work on cintiqs, so the demand just isn't there anymore.

Long story short. acquire designs, hire carpenter.

Is that your workspace?
If yes, are you single?
>>
>>2683427
OP here, I've seen that site but the crudeness of it kind of turned me off. How do I even know if the guy is still making them?
>>
>>2685416
If OP is from Europe he can buy it from Poland

Light is from Amazon, search the name in the image
Stand, I can't remember. It's just a generic wooden stand, like the one in >>2686550 except no gaping hole.
>>

could DIY anon, looks like it's not to complicated.

I just use strip LED lights under a glass table sprayed with Frosted glass on the underside. Been animating professionally for almost 5 years on it now.
>>
>>2680036
I mean if the desk won't be used by multiple students a day with varying degrees of roughness I think the table will last awhile and be fine. The ones in my school are pretty good, allow for mounting of a tablet, and large digital set ups if you like to switch between traditional and digital animating.

>No disc

The most important thing is the disc
>>
>>2689660
I didn't mean crap in the sense of build quality, but often school supplies aren't designed for a (home) studio. But they are still expensive, so they don't make a good temporary solution either.

The desks you talk about are interesting, do you have pictures or links?
>>
>>2689796
Why though? I never understood the importance of the disk. Why do you need to turn the paper?
>>
>>2690027
Because it makes you more flexible when drawing lines without damaging or disturbing the paper.
>>
>>2690041
Other me bullshitting reason: Disney used 16" animation paper, in anime 10" and 12" are commonly used. 16" is probably not a good candidate for a flat table, so they needed the more complicated setup.
