I only use soft pastels... but if it helps you I have heard some good shit about rembrandt oil pastels.

Honestly, the really cheap pentels are pretty decent. Up from that there are the Sakura Expressionist and Specialist, or if you want something softer, move up to Mungyo or import a set of Holbeins from japan.
If you want an artist-grade set that's firmer, I can recommend the CdA Neopastels if you can get them on sale. At normal prices they're way too expensive.
