Post examples of artworks and artists that reach, in your opinion, the lowest standards for working professionally as an artist (Concept art, illustrator, whatever).
Pic related. Imo.

Is that an actual marvel comic?
>>2661101
Oh yes, my friend.
>>2661104
the best bit is the scene where a black guy in central park gets mugged by a gang of white guys

Free handed ... how do I get on his level?
>>2661153

this shit is hilarious
>>2661164
probably a shitposter's butthurt vendetta like the bitches at /cgl/ do posting their pics and calling them fat or something
>>2661164
there's nothing to get, all these posters are a lot worse than the artists their poking fun at. they're just delusional. there's maybe 2 or 3 legit good artists on here.
they're critiquing artwork like they're sports fan or something, because it doesnt measure up to the top 1% of artists that they typically circle jerk to.
>>2661162
Still better than over 3/4 of /ic/ desu senpai
>>2661164
lazy and poor design.
skill is reciprocal to appreciation. If "can't into" appreciating a good design then your skills will always suck.
>>2661171
merc.wip has higher standards
>>2661170
Wait this is an ironic shitposting thread?
>>2661170
>all these posters are a lot worse than the artists their poking fun at

OP here
When I posted first pic, I wasn't saying it was "bad" or anything, I was just saying that, imo, this has to be the lowest standards to be a "professional artist". Anything below that I wouldn't think that would have chances to be taken in a studio.
Then again, I wasn't saying it's bad, it's actually pretty good, but it's basically just a quick painting attached with a couple of thumbnails. I believe that if you want to make it as a professional artist, that's the least you should be able to do as opposed to PIC RELATED which I believe has no place to be in a studio. Not bashing the anime stylization, but maybe if you'd add a couple of values and colors, then it would be acceptable, but so far, I don't think PIC RELATED would.
>>2661621
man, 1995's standards were SCAAAARRRYYYY
>>2661620
Depends on the kind of studio, while the linework and poses on this are not super-awesome, I can see this kind of concept actually existing within an anime studio (or one of those studios that do weeb games).
It's really situational. Studios want concept art that matches their "style", if you work for a AAA game studio it usually means realism but I've seen all sorts.
>>2661631
Addendum: there's a difference between skill and style/content. Content (in this case the anime stylization) might get you thrown out of certain studios, and loved by others. For the skill, this picture does meet the "bare minimums", and I can't envision a high profile studio hiring a concept artist at this level, though I'm certain smaller studios have.

What's up with this image ? I see it everywhere and don't get the joke
>>2661647
it's not a real joke, like a funny haha joke, it's more of an /ic/ joke were you take something that happened and spam it again and again until the sight of it makes everyone lose the will to live.
>>2661621
Haha I love seeing things like that. It was simpler back then when the ideas were genuinely more important than the execution (they even misspelled February). Mullins had a great example of this in one of the Gnomon vids where he showed some original concept art from Star Wars and it was even cruder than the Fallout work you posted. But the designs were actually good, it just was drawn poorly. Nowadays you get generic designs rendered or photobashed to look all shiny and fancy.
>>2661156
You know that there's something called "Industrial Design", Right?
If you wanna get on that level, you must study everything from books, and learn to draw many machines and engines and welp, practice line and whatever.
>>2661175
>lazy and poor design
>lowest possible professional standards
nigga the standards for design in the entertainment industry are poor as shit, I see terrible design all the time including in AAA productions
>>2661153
lol I read furries, too
>>2661198
Yes. Sure, the style is garbage and simple, but there are no glaring flaws.
And you have to realize, most people don't post their work on here, and out of those, it's probably because they mostly suck.
>>2661647
something something post your work...

>>2662030
You don't need to buy into the learnsquared, cgma bullshit to arrive at the skill level to get a job, a lot of unknown concept artists are absolute shit and got into the industry through luck.
>>2662022
phew bud, thats pretty fucking blatant thievery
>>2661164
Think of it more like a "You must be this tall to ride" sign
>>2662039
He got his first job with similar things in his portfolio, they even advertised it on the company blog.
No problem though, Titus Lunter stole the people in charge of the studio were told, they didn't care. This guy got his job at Guerrilla Games just fine.
>>2661626
stop making me read shit in his voice
>>2662048
Titus Lunter had stolen art in his portfolio* and the people in charge were told.
>>2661063
>>2661104
I'm gonna say it. That art atrocious looking. I wouldn't' give a single cent to this autistic comic because that is what it looks like. Every character looks like they have down syndrome or some kind of mental deficiency.
Especially Squirrel Girl, She looks like a retarded version of honey boo boo.
>>2661650
So a meme?
