Making it

When I can make anything I want (think about).

For now it's just stumbling in the dark, trying to figure out *how* to do something. Whether that's drawing a figure in the right proportion, an object at the right perspective, or just a scene with the right mood. I *know* what I want, but I just can't *see* it clearly in my mind, and as a result I can't draw it.

"Making it" means that you've become good enough to be in the 1% of artists.

My understanding of what most people meant was "Be a professional artist."
That is, make a relatively comfortable living on your art.

Personally as a hobbyist I prefer it this way, I think once you're doing it as your job it probably becomes a lot less fun.

It just means achieving success. Usually people here take that to mean you are financially able to support yourself comfortably with your art, and/or you get good enough at art to be considered a master.

"Making it" means making enough money through art that it can be my day job.

Honestly, making it for me is just making enough to be able to have people buy my art, and then buy better tools with that money to make even better art.

Right now I'm sort of making it. I have an audience, people who like my work, and I make the equivalent of beer money with my art per month. If I can make $200 a month off of my hobby without resorting to drawing furry porn I'll be happy.

Making it is when I become rich and recognisable off art. The mentality of /ic/ is the definition of never gonna make it.
