>there are people who don't intuitively know colour theory
I never studied color theory itself, but i've always been quite proud of my keen aesthetic sense and i definitely know when colors "feel" good/right and when they do not
i think this is a normal thing among people who've liked to draw for a long time

How do you go about teaching yourself colour theory?
>>2641743
I would also like to know, I have yet to find a good book or set of tutorials on the subject
Well you can learn how to color if you paint or color from life, experiment.

That was pretty eye opening desu, thanks

I don't understand what "using" a color wheel even means
when you're doing something you're just picking your colors and seeing what works
Color theory is like composition; yes it is intuitive in a sense, but the moment you study it and use it with a proper understanding, it becomes less of a "Oh, I guess this works together" and more "I have orchestrated this to lead the viewer in a way that makes them feel this emotion"

So what is the point exactly? This is babby's first color theory class, but how does it apply to actual art? Unless all you're painting are color charts, you shouldn't be concerned about using the right primary colors, you should be looking at the pigments used instead and figure out what's good for you. For a minimal palette RBY makes a whole lot more sense to me than CMY does. It doesn't matter that Ultramarine Blue is not a primary when it yields a lot more useful mixes than a Phthalo Cyan or Cerulean will.

doing digital this stuff is more useful than rby since it is how a computer screen works, I don't know much about traditional though

But the CMYK spectrum is significantly smaller than RGB and only used in printing. Usually you'd work in aRGB and only adjust and convert to your CMYK profile as a last step.

any color palette actually works
the fuck ups come trought wrong saturation/value

It's kinda hard for me to understand what he say with this accent...
>>2641869
I still don't get it
I find it pretty inutitive but I still plan on taking a class or something just to really nail it home

Not. Gonna. Make. It.
