what kind of music does /ic/ listen to while working?
>>2641546
nightcore, because I like fast songs
>>2641546
Hours and hours of Mozart or Chopin, it really helps me focus.
It also reminds me to get my ass to work, 'cause I have them associated with studying.
Blues works fine as well, but doesn't go well with reading text.

do you guys take inspiration from songs?

Anything goes. Many times i just let it go automatic and after a while drawing its playing god knows what
The fan of my PC.
>>2641555
Fuck yeah dude, inspiration can come from a tin can, so why not another form of art? I've been thinking of doing a painting inspired by the Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, it's only an idea though, I don't even have a thumbnail down.
>>2641555
Of course. Sometimes it's just sort of white noise for me though.
>>2641557
Really? I would kill myself if I had to endure that. I use music to block out my pc fan.

Same here. When I'm inking or colouring a piece I can't do it without music, but when sketching or trying to come up with an idea I have to focus completely on what I'm doing.

normally I have a pretty god tier musical taste, but when I draw I listen to this type of mindless dreamy stuff.

I have to listen to music when I draw cuase it gets the feelings flowing.

OH but occasionally I listen to some ambient/downbeat like Andy stott or the brother from The Knife. Forgot his name but he makes awesome tropical edm
I like atmospheric stuff. Tend to listen to drone metal and Chelsea Wolfe a good bit when I'm making things just to kinda drown out any distractions. It helps me focus

You want something simple or ambient. Classic Electronic is where its at.

If you were talking about classical music, complexity really doesn't matter, even a simple track can be extremely chaotic and distracting.
Mozart is one of the few whose music is very, very systematic - the rhytmic waves positively influence your brain processes or some shit, it's not some smug nonsense, trust me
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTc1mDieQI8
Give it a try and you'll see, it works almost like an on/off switch for your brain.
I mentioned Chopin purely because his nocturnes make my dick hard, not because he's good for focusing.
Korean old pop.
It's really tacky but personally it's attracting.

back when i was in highschool, i took a lot of art classes. they were all taught by the same art teacher. almost every single day of class, in every class he taught, he played Norah Jones's album Come Away With Me. every time. and no, he did not put it on shuffle. he started it from the beginning. every time.
just thought i'd share that. i wasnt even mad. it became like a novelty. it got to the point where if he didnt play it, I'd say 'hey wheres norah?" and he'd be like "oh yeah" and he'd put it on. it was like some weird experiment in music association training. I hear Norah Jones, and my brain knows it art time
video game music most of the time, the shinobi 3 ost , silent hill 2 3 and 4 ost, some of those youtube compilations of relaxing game music. the sound of video game music helps me focus because when i hear it i think it makes me get into a focused mind state from playing the game intensly when i was a kid.
that and karl richter playing bach.

progressive psytrance, deep/future/ house, chill/lo-fi hip hop beats, sometimes jazz, ambient jazz, idk i mix it up a lot depending on my mood.

The yogpod, their new podcast is great.
currently sorting through my music (downloaded a ton of new stuff after getting sick of some bands)
Generally into ambient/post metal/vaporwave/classical/eastern folk music while painting.
pic related music I have right now, most of it is annoying and will be deleted.
I don't know how any of you listen to podcasts without getting distracted desu

City pop chill https://youtu.be/t2wjCX81CHM
>>2641546
Usually some upbeat and positive pop or gangsta rap with attitude to keep the suicidal thoughts away.
>>2641546
Kitchen Nightmares.
Seriously, when I draw to it as background noise, it makes me want to get better at what I do, put in more passion, be willing to change, etc.
There's something so genuine about Gordon Ramsay that makes me want to be happier and better at what I do. This goes for when I cook for myself, too.
Astor Piazzolla, Tokimonsta, Jazzy kinda shit, and Black Metal
Sometimes nothing though, it depends what I'm drawing. I'll also listen to music that seems appropriate to what I'm drawing, I listen to the Diablo 2 Act 3 music whenever I'm drawing anything that would come out of a jungle.
meme music
I listen to a lot of Marilyn Manson's earlier stuff, like Portrait of an American family, Smells like Children, and a tiny bit of mechanical animals. I know, I know, it's 'edgy' or whatever, but it helps inspire me since it has the perfect balance of carelessness, shock value, and glam, and I like drawing those things.
I usually go to youtube and look up some mix or playlist, I like Death Grips a lot, I probably listen to them the most. I've been thinking about getting Pandora, but havent really found the need to yet. I'll do some research on it soon though.
>>2653327
>edgy
whatever inspires you is best, breh, seriously, people who criticize you for having taste in music don't realize we mostly need it to keep focus when painting, especially when rendering.
Horrible dnb/dubstep or some equally horrible chill/downtempo off the Ninja Tune label.
Or drone. Or anything that provides a soundscape of dark, vaguely musical sounding electronic/industrial noises that fit a mood but are easy to ignore as they quickly turn into background noise if you aren't paying attention. Nothing with lyrics.
>>2653327
I like edgy music too.
