Design Doll and other like programs are fine for referencing from as they give you the freedom to create your own poses and give you a visualization of how they'd look in 3D space.
However, it's best to have a good idea of human anatomy and how to sculpt the body before going into using the program.
i.e. it's fine to use as a reference but not as a concrete reference. If you don't know the human body you should be drawing from life instead.

There's an older version of it that is cracked, but I had to download it from some awful weeb's deviantart. I'm not really impressed with the product, either. The controls feel loose and you can't sculpt the models to get different body-types (Example: Big Beautiful Asses). Not really worth tracking down, and certainly not worth paying for.

Plus, they always turn out super-stiff.

You're like those faggots who think fancy brushes will cover up their lack of technical skill and fundamentals. It's not the tools, it's how you USE them.

If you're outright tracing the models, you're doing it wrong. Designdoll is best used for tricky perspective, twisting the camera to come up with interesting compositions, and keeping characters' proportions correct.

Dynamic, interesting poses with force CAN be conveyed using the program but your fundamentals are so weak that you can't even pose the dolls properly. It wouldn't even be suitable as a reference because the pose is so poorly arranged.
