Early this year I started making watercolor paintings (first painting medium).
I've enjoyed my experience with it WAY more than I ever did with drawing.
Are there any other watercolorists here? Spread the love and inspiration!
Pic is of a creek near my house (maybe a month old).

I like it, op. Looks like you get immersed in your painting.
I've been drawing in here since christmas but it's painting that I've always wanted to do.
>>2623404
I'd tell you to just start. I felt more improvement per painting than I did when drawing. That's what really pushed me to change.
Here's my most recent plein air painting
>>2623382
Sloppy and formless.
Also, don't WC on canvas even if it's treated for it. They look better on paper and under glass.

Well done
>>2623427
thanks man, that tip came at just the right time! keep posting your paintings, op. not enough traditional painters in here.
>>2623749
Nice! I really like how you handled those rocks the only thing that stands out to me is the foliage seems a little dark
>>2623775
Explain formless. Legit asking
>>2624003
not him but I agree with his comment about ur first painting. your 2nd one is amazing
>>2624033
Can't take credit for that second one (op)
>>2624003
not the guy, but I think he's referring to the shapes blending a lot into eachother, as in not defined enough. take everything with a grain of salt when it comes to criticism in here tho, cause it tends to be very formulaic.
but from now on, focus on developing what you got, which is the immersive feel, and remember criticism like above for later in the process when you're already comfortable with what you want to do and need tips on where to go from there.
so, keep going for what you WANT, but take a note of criticism and save it for later.

Looks awesome, how long have you been painting for?
>>2624058
Thank you for the well put critique. Are there any good sources for water color techniques?
>>2623382
Are you using watercolors on canvas?? Seems pretty impractical
My take on "formless" is that you haven't really defined anything, you're just throwing down a mess of colors that look vaguely like shapes. There are no hard edges or thin lines anywhere. If you worked in a couple dark, thin lines to bring out the planks of the bridge or used some small brushes to add details in the foliage and emphasize darks in the tree trunks, the whole thing would look a lot better.

I like this a lot, anon.
first time using watercolor, any tips?
>>2631220
Step one.
Don't paint furfag shit.
>>2631220
Doesn't look like the paper you're using is suited for wet media. It's probably fine for just laying quick washes over a sketch like you did here, but for more detailed work with shading you might want to invest in some actual watercolor paper.

Not everything anthropomorfic animal related is furshit. One thing's a disgusting fetish and the other is a design choice. Not doing something out of fear of others judging is basically censoring.
>>2624319
Well you shouldn't.
>>2632515
>Not doing something out of fear of others judging is basically censoring.
regurgitating political plebianism as ethical truths. stop talking, please.
>>2632538
weak retort.
>>2632542
it's not, cause I'm not the guy you're arguing with. I just saw your last post and got triggered.
