Around the time I became depressed I lost all creativity, no piece I work on has any originality and is a direct copy of another artists style. Before this I was at least able to add something to differentiate my work and make it unique to the style I was using. Now it seems everything I make is boring and unoriginal. Have any of you dealt with this before? If so how did you get through it?
Realize that your need for creativity is an illusion and that being creative solely for the sake of being creative is useless and stupid. Find ways you can be creative through normal means. Try drawing curves opposite of how you normally do it. If you start with shadows and go to highlights, try doing it in the opposite order. You're not going to get creative by moping around, you get creative by breaking out of your comfort zone and enjoying the process rather than the end goal of "being creative".
