what is the best software to animate pixel art?
nothing expensive plz
for making pixel art I use GraphicsGale
just some info, i would like to be able to animate sprite sheets in .png format
drawing directly onto the program is not necessary

>best software

pick one.
I don't know programs for animating from sprite sheets besides game maker studio, but you can't export the animations as gifs or anything.
You could try looking on Pixeljoint, they should have a list of programs with info on them.

K ty
I meant the best software that was cheap
Photoshop. Industry standard for a reason. 10$ a month.

aseprite

good goy

desu i always thought graphicsgale was the end all be all of pixel animation. simple and solid. I could be wrong
>>2610963
>not torrenting

aesprite is available for free.
it's not the best, but it's still really damn good.
also game maker studio is shit-tier for animation, that's not what it's meant for. it's meant for games, and basic image editing inside the program if you need to adjust a single frame. i'd only ever import a finished animation into it, can't stand their image editor.

or instead of funding pajeets shitty subscription cloud garbage, just buy a slightly older version online for cheap, and only pay once.
Is there any sprite art specific software for mac? Right now I'm using photoshop and it's ok but a lot of people say there are better alternatives.

>10$ a month
>120$ a year
>10 years = $1,200
In 2009, CS4 costed around $600. You bought it once and could use it for an infinite amount of time. And if you were a student with a college ID, it could cost you a mere $200. 90 years of CS4 in 2009 = $200-$600. 90 years of a $10 monthly charge with the new Photoshop = $10,000+.
Adobe doesn't deserve all that money. Pirate it if you wish, but there are better programs than Photoshop out there.

I shouldn't explained further, but yeah that's exactly what I do. I draw the animated frames as a sheet and then import them into game maker just to see how it animates. I know there's better programs out there with onion-skin and stuff though.

should've* not "shouldn't."

If you ever would conceivably update Photoshop it's a solid deal. $600 every 5 years is not even close to a bad deal. Paying so little over time is valuable on its own for people who can't save enough money to buy it flat out, too.
That said, Krita is free and pretty damn good for most of "our" purposes. Photoshop definitely has a few more tricks up its sleeve and is far more stable, though.

This so much
Stop being stingy people.
it's
the
industry
standard
asesprite is great for pixel animation
>>2610963

>>2613307
>because reasons
good goy
I use Pyxel Edit, it was like $10 and it does everything all the other programs do
>>2608290
>itt: avoiding the industry standard
